To the mage who opened an ancient dalaran portal over the portal to dragonblight:

Can you even use mage ports from mages not in your own group anymore?

Looks like someone “fell” for the oldest trick in the spell book.
Heh.

Recalling a mage who almost got kicked from the guild after putting down a portal to Stonard instead of Dalaran at the end of a Tomb of Sargeras run…

Still beats having to hoof it back from Razor Hill when we all had to die after sliding off that ledge in Ragefire Chasm getting stuck

Don’t group up for these world events.
Fewer people trying to crowd all into one shard, the less lag there will be.
For everyone who does, an ancient dalaran portal is probably what they deserve anyways.

You got GOT

Laugh over it

Long time ago I was in a guild where at the end of the raid night the mage would pop timewarp and icyveins and place down all portals in the same spot, calling it portal roulette. Good times.

ROFLMAO! Oh yeah, that takes me back…

Good times good times.

Can’t take that back now!

Is there any mage out there who hasn’t enjoyed doing this at some point? Avoiding all the decoys was basically a sport at the end of many of our raids.

Of course, should anyone fall for it, besides being laughed at, the next step was that they would just ask to be summoned back (or hearth.)

Gonna take you way way way back. Into another game even.

Imagine having no mounts whatsoever. No ground, flying or skyriding. Also imagine you had no way to teleport anywhere. This was Everquest. You didnt even have a hearthstone. All you had was your 2 feet. And if you died, you didnt go to some nearby graveyard. You went to where ever you had bound your soul and you were naked. Like stygia in the maw, your gear would be with your corpse where even with it, you died. This could be an inn or having someone bind it for you where ever. (very uncommon)

Now, Imagine you were in STV and wanted to get to North Rend. Some nice person says “sure” and offers you a portal. But when you get there, you’re actually in silithus. They then bind you there and they teleport off. Now you have to run from Silithus all the way to try and get to North Rend. And all those factors I mentioned come into play. Oh and I forgot to mention ships were almost real time. It took 30 minutes to go from port to port. And if you missed the boat, you had to wait a round trip. Plus of course the boat time to your destination.

That’s what the “trolls” did back then.
