Yeah, that’s the one I was thinking of.
If they wanted him to be a neutral figure of death they did a really poor job of it. As it stands he’s an enemy of the Alliance and an ally of the Horde so we have no reason to ever trust or work with him.
If you’re going to give a history lesson of the alliance, at least call Stormwind by its OG name. Which was Kingdom of Azeroth. Stormwind was just the name of its capital.
But historically it was the strongest of the human kingdoms, having faced the brunt of the horde by itself in the First War. It was only after said mighty kingdom fell and Lothar led its refugees to Lordaeron did the rest of the alliance kingdoms proceed to dirty their pants and realize how big a threat the Horde was.
Anyway, SW has its own lore which shouldn’t be discounted. Lothar, the Brotherhood of the Horse, Clerics, Conjurers, Alonsos Foul, the Wrynn dynasty, etc. The warcraft universe considered those things as “dead” after the First War, but there’s nothing stopping Blizzard from bringing those things back. Blizz can even do a “looking into the past” trope so common in fantasies (where secrets lost ages ago are uncovered and they’re stronger than current things)
Personally, I never understood this sub’s fascination with Lordaeron. First, that stupid L and P shield symbol was lame. Second, the game had the symbol blue, when Lordaeron’s colors were white (to represent their “light purity” scoff). Blue is actually Stormwind’s colors, and I’ve always been glad when Blizz finally updated all the alliance flags to the Lion symbol. Its cooler looking anyway.
Edit: Typos, etc.
Same. I don’t get how people are excited by it.
As for the thread’s main topic, of course Stormwind’s blandness and spotlight-hogging is everything that’s wrong with the alliance.
Come on Anya, it’s the perfect chance to see all your favourite humans again! Varian can impart some more of his dead wisdom to Tyrande that he’s learned! It’ll be great!
If this happens, I’d like to see Orgrimmar - Along with Durotar hit by a Tsunami.
Whether it be by:
- Alliance who don’t want peace, sought vengeance & want the Horde to pay (Seeing the Forums there are so SO many that want the Horde to be ripped apart & deem them as ‘Savagery & Evil Incarnate’)
- or by the forces of N’Zoth to weaken the Horde once Stormwind has been weakened.
Alas from this, the Alliance could rebuild bigger, better & stronger than ever.
As for the Horde, I’d like to see the Botani (That escaped through the time-portal when they brought back a larger portion of Mag’har from Alternate Draenor) utilise the opportunity of the soaked land & raise Durotar / Orgrimmar back into the Forest it once was (Before the Sundering) - Along with an ‘Upgrade’ of theirs (Regards sent from the primal-flora of Draenor).
Yeah this ‘Human Potential’ stuff is getting old, if I wanted human potential I’d play Sims. I play WoW to experience otherworldly magics, ideas and various new races & cultures to explore.
Perhaps the Kal’Dorei could find the spark of Ysera & Alexstrasza that was blessed within the tree - Enhance it and restore it to a ‘Black Pearl’ of their Empire - Also allowing the Alliance to Fortify a holding within as well.
Absolutely agree. I was pretty cheesed off when I found out Tyrande or Malfurion weren’t even participant in the Nazjatar campaign.
I know they got Darkshore tuggle-war to deal with but if I were them & I’d found out about Queen Azshara + dire schemees I’d be like “HOLD THE FRONT DOOR!?” Was rather disappointed (and confused) Jaina had what appeared to be more dialog than Shandris - If anything, if they really needed a magi for the Alliance during the given questline, should had given her an Elven ghost companion to do with her past than ‘Human Potential’ they waffle on about all the time trying to force down our throats.
I mean as much as the Earthmother and any elemental working with a Horde Shaman are enemies of the Alliance (or vice versa). Or as much as Elune, Cenarius, the Naaru, et al are to be considered enemies of the Horde.
TBH … the ONLY reasons I’m forgiving of Zekhan getting a custom rig before Rokhan is: 1) it seems HIS role in the upcoming 8.2.5 patch will be more relevant; and 2) They may (I hope) be waiting for Rokhan to ACTUALLY become the Darkspear leader before giving him his custom rig. He does not hold that position in any official capacity right now, just by default.
Outside of that Shandris is deserving of one; as are the Council of Three Hammers. I also personally would like Gazlowe to get one if he does hopefully replace Wix as our Racial Leader.
Not to be a dick … but that is to be expected. The MAJORITY of NE content not focused on dealing with an enemy or mistake from their deep and rich past … was primarily concerned with “returning-to or maintaining the status-quo”. Its VERY unsurprising that their military is also equally mired in the past … and thus must increasingly rely on their demi-god tier allies to make up the difference.
The Kaldorei have really done NOTHING to maintain their original massive military advantage on Kalimdor. They continue to rely on tech and tactics that are over 10k years old … and honestly their military composition is a little odd (if we were to ever consider logistics for a moment); and they overrely perhaps a bit too much on their AMAZING natural gifts and blessings.
Bluntly … it is unsurprising that they would begin struggling more and more against a explosively advancing and highly diverse & adaptive group like the Horde (and likely would even more than is portrayed right now if Blizz wasn’t SO inconsistent with the tech advancement of the Horde … with us using almost exclusively tech and tactics dating back to friggen BC in the WoT).
Like … the Horde (and EK Alliance) were developing friggen Airships in WotLK; Submarines in Cata; we saw just how much the face of War had changed with a single airship (the Skyfire) in MoP; both industrial factions were developing Ironclads and Aircraft Carriers in WoD … ONLY for ALL of that to vanish by the WoT. Hell, the Horde is currently using the MASSIVE manufacturing plant known as the Underhold as a glorified prison for Baine this expansion … strange aint it?
I mean after this expansion you may want to re-evaluate putting Elune and Cenarius in the “not enemies of the Horde” category. Unless Blizzard sweep it under the carpet that had to have pissed both of them off something fierce.
I’m … uncertain. Not that I’m suggesting these two wouldn’t care, but Elune has never been a particularly active Goddess (her power is largely felt in passive behind the scenes ways). Cenarius in contrast … has he EVER intervened on the behalf of the NEs in a situation that wasn’t DIRE for the world? Or the Wild Gods as a whole for that matter? They fought the Legion because they were a danger to Azeroth; they fought the Firelands during Cata for a similar reason.
Hell, even Cenarius’ reason for attacking the Warsong clan in WC3 had nothing to do with the NEs … he sensed the Fel in their blood and thought they were agents of the Legion (attempting to setup a foothold situation). It actually is sort of interesting that the NE/Orc relationship BEGAN with a pre-emtive attack from the Kaldorei based on faulty logic, with the NEs under Cenarius attempting to wipe out the Orcs (due to their genuine concern they were a precurser to another Legion invasion).
The question I have … would the Wild Gods interfere in the conflicts of Mortals? If Sylvanas did not clearly have some strange “True Intentions” that are liable to effect the entire world on a cosmic scale, and the Blood War really was JUST a conflict between two nations (nothing more than that) … would the Wild Gods have stepped in to save the Kaldorei (despite being their favorite children)? Death, Change, Adaptation, Renewal, Regrowth … these are all aspects of LIFE too after all … so in merely the conflict between two Political Powers (nothing grander) … would they step in to defend the Kaldorei if their OWN nation could not hold the line against another?
sigh No, you’re right. Nobody cares about Night Elves, in universe or out. They should just go secular already.
That’s … not what I’m saying. What I AM saying is that I am uncertain as to whether the Wild Gods WOULD step in to save the Kaldorei in JUST a battle between two MORTAL political powers (and not some grander crisis)? They didn’t attempt to deal with Azshara or the Highborne until the Legion became an issue (an existential threat to ALL of Azeroth) after all.
Oddly, the Kaldorei have sort of been so fixated on maintaining NATURE … that they do seem to have neglected to maintain their own NATION a bit as a result. While the two are deeply intertwined, they aren’t totally synonymous … and while the NEs are HIGHLY adaptive in MANY areas … their Military presence absolutely is not (and very specialized in guerrilla warfare).
A part of what bothers me of the WoT is the fact that the Horde ALSO was extremely handicapped. With the explosive advancements in tech and tactics over the last decade of the Red Team (while the Kaldorei should never be portrayed as weak) … the Horde really should be a match for them by now. Like … here is a question? Do the Kaldorei even really have a Navy?
You forgot to complain about the constant assertation that the Night Elves deserve to be driven off of Kalimdor because they won’t abandon the few scraps of their culture and themes they have left, and become Tech Elves.
As if tech is the great equalizer on Azeroth like it is irl. When it’s actually magic. Which Elves have in abundance, when Blizz deigns to show it.
Tech is AN outlet to serve as an equalizer with the Night Elves. Few races are as naturally blessed as the NEs when it comes to magic (or magic potential), no matter how … irritatingly Jaina and Kadghar would make it seem. Even fewer have been shown such favoritism by Gods and Demi-Gods in their past either. To suggest otherwise would effectively be stating that the Kaldorei are superior by default, and will remain superior (because other races just aren’t born as special). It also holds potency because NEs are EXTREMELY proficient at fighting opponents high in Magic; but they really don’t have much experience with heavy (constantly evolving) tech.
I bet most of the people in the alliance will support Yrel and her morally grey actions over Anduin and Jaina peacecraft.
Do you mean characters in the game or players?
A bit of both, we have Rogers, KT characters, the night elves in general, some lightforged with normal draeneis and maybe a lot of citizens from stormwind.
However it’s likely most of the leaders will be against her because they are following Manduin peace at the cost of their own quality of life while she has a more garrosh like approach with the opposite faction.
To be fare and not to disagree with you. The Kingdom of Azeroth was a kingdom of knights and farms and prayer. This is why it made sense for Azeroth to be preserves and Lordaeron to be destroyed (some belf made a good argument why Lordaeron is doomed.)
Alonsus Faol, was Azerothian. He was the head cleric or Northshire abbey during the 1st war. Faol later created the knights of the silver hand to replace the clerics after the sacking if Azeroth.
Apparently Lordaeron didn’t have a church of the light until Sire Lothar and Faol showed up with the exodus of Azeroth after the 1st war. This is why Lordaeron was such a holy place.
However, the opportunity to sack Azeroth the 2nd time somewhat passed with WoD. It would have been a. Excellent monent to have killed Varian Wrynn and let the Legion kill Garrosh as retribution for his father’s betrayal.
That said, the 2nd sacking of the kingdom of Azeroth [Stormwind] would/could be a huge go get em moment the Alliance been needing since Deathwing. But never forget, Lordaeron, and all its glory was the product of Sire Lothar and the [foretelling] experinents of Arch Bishop Alonsus Faol, who pulled a Gul’Dan and turned knights into clergy and clergyman into knights and called them paladins.
