It does but only for a day or so. Once you start in on anything current you get hit with that sickening feeling of “ugh…why did I pay them money for this”.
I enjoyed BFA, they just made the same mistakes they did with SL
Put everything behind a ridiculous grind wall and kicked alts in the sack.
P.S WOW has been dying for 17 years by people who haven’t played in like 8 years
Pretty much, than by the time you reach “end-game” content youve likely lost the desire. Like for me now, Id love to level an alt and what not. But knowing I have to grind to 60, to only than grind Torghast, M+, dailies, Korthia… It’s like what is the point. Were talking a month long commitment to just level up an Alt to a reasonable amount of power.
Lol true! I actually loved BFA as well. Mechagon was, and still is, one of my favorite zones in the game. Loved it, and the dailies never got old. Maybe just because I felt it was unique and novel, not sure… I actually enjoyed it more than SL by far.
Exactly. I got my paladin to a reasonable point and I’d LOVE to play my warlock as well but just thinking about the grind it takes to get there, nah I’d rather let my sub lapse and play single player games.
It’s true. I do the same, except I still actively play the game. I think part of the issue is, I play the game to hardcore. When I played more casually, I actually enjoyed it a lot more. Like in BFA.
Some people have been spending too much time watching youtube videos of middle-aged streamers ranting about how good the game was “back in the good 'ol days”.
Cant upvote this enough! Majority of WoW’s problems are made by streamers milking Youtube views… Its gross
They make every possible change, system, item, grind, zone, you get the point… Negative. And this is the issue. I cant blame them as they are making money from it. But WoW’s “active” players I personally dont believe are the issue. This is just an opinion though.
I’ve been playing casually and it’s not really enjoyable for me. I tried going back to scheduled raiding with a guild in heroic at the start of SL and by week 3 I was already burned out. The guild fell apart literally the Monday before week 4. I mean full on disbanded.
Maybe I just don’t enjoy MMOs anymore and I should quit them for good.
I’m invested in the FFXIV story so I’ll at least play it for that but after EW I may just put down MMOs for good.
The same occured for me, but we stuck out SoD until about 2 months in, however, long that is. They are still trying to down Heroic Sylvanas, but I personally had to drop out… There was zero enjoyment wiping over and over due to lack of motivation
I’m one of those people that won’t touch FF because of stupid Cat girls. and well, the combat in FF is stupid also.
This will likely be met with criticism, but everyone hates on Bobby for milking the store. I get it, but he is a CEO. This is at a foundational level his job. He is supposed to make as much money as possible for the company. In contrast, Youtubers, many of which dont even play the game anymore, for some reason continue to make negative videos to milk views. I have more of an issue with this, over a CEO whose just doing their job…
What streamers? Shadowlands is just an inferior product that surfed off the brands previous success and hype to a point now where North America has its lowest population ever and continues to fall until about 9.2.
The game will never die because Roleplayers and hardcore fans would justify its existence.
Infact some ppl do not even consider it a game but rather a part of their life.
Blizzard only incentive to make good content is to make more money not to maintain the IP or servers - that is done without effort.
What streamers? Just type “world of warcraft” in youtube. Almost guarantee your first 3 hits will be a negative video about WoW…
Exactly. I personally dont see an issue with an in-game store. It has its purpose, and while I see both sides of the argument, if you dont like it, dont buy it. Simply put. However, they must add things in game that offer equal value. This is where peoples issue stem from
I’m telling you right now it’s Going to be real Different. I can’t wait.
I am not worried about Warcraft/WoW’s future if only because I have see the MMO life cycle. If my old MMO of Ragnarok Online has still managed to continue kicking(albeit in Mobile form) I expect WoW will continue as well.
I agree, WoW will not die. Ever! If anything, below a certain sub point, it will become F2P, with a much larger in game store portion.
