To help with populations at launch

an open beta could help with an idea of how many, though they would require a bnet account, which shouldn’t be a problem for most?

Then everyone will purchase early access.

It is a good idea though.

Try to do 5 days before at 10 dollars
Then 4 days before at 8 dollars and so fourth.
It may work but I believe maybe 70% of the population will pay to get early access.

My idea for a solution for server overload would be this.

Take 5 servers and have them all linked into a single one using the cross server tech. Once the population drops after the initial surge merge those 5 mini-realm into a single parent realm.

EG:
Frostmourne
Jubei’thos
Dath
Thaur
barth
They all turn into Oceanic 1.

Spread the name rights amongst the 5 servers so theres no dupes for character and guild names and it could potentially work.

So what happens when most everyone just buys this p2w headstart and the servers are still clogged up?
Have you guys seen what’s happening to this industry because of mtx and crap like this being implemented over actual engaging gameplay?

This is a hard no from me.
Bring on the cluster bomb launch and let’s play!

This is a terrible idea. It is blatantly a pay to win scenario. At an extra 3 days, you can be well into the 40’s before everyone else is able to even log in. At five days, you can be in the mid 50’s, and at 7 days you can be pushing 60. You’ve paid to have little to no competition while leveling. You now will have 3-7 days at cap to farm and essentially create the economy of the server with no resistance.

Worse, it wouldn’t work to solve the issue at all if it is a reasonable price. If it’s reasonable, everyone will pay it. Then you just have everyone logging in and clogging the starting zones on launch - 3 days instead of launch.

The only way to make it work is to price it above a reasonable price, which will just make it reek that much more of pay to win. Yes, everyone has the option to participate by paying $50 (3 times the monthly subscription) for 3 days, that’s just a nice way of saying that it isn’t pay to win because everyone can pay to win.

Sharding is a terrible solution to the issue. All you have managed to show here is that there are worse possible solutions.

Manually manage the servers instead of being a little baby about it.

Take a gamble, a big risk and reap the big reward. That’s how you make the money if you’re looking to make the money… Corp America now days is so gun shy that they no longer make those big risks to gain the big reward, and thats sad because this is why modern Corp America sucks and is 3rd rate at best when you compare it to its former glory.

I like your style.

Just no sharding I am down.

Give me the most #%^* up #%^* and let me work it as like vanilla. Yes, I will curse blizzard but secretly love them.

Vanilla was a love and hate relationship. Ppl complained but secretly wanted more.

I can see changes where limited addons are available and new macro system(so you just don’t spam two buttons with scripts).

NAILED IT…

Sharding = HARD NO.

Early access = HARD NO.

Real Vanilla game play and real vanilla zerg rush = HELL YA!, its why we’re here. If I wanted a sheltered sanitized guided tour that I cannot be harmed on, then I would get on BFA that guides me to the next quest; where I do not need to join a group to play because all mobs = mine because there is no one there to share with.

I could go on, but I feel the concept is fairly universal excluding some people who just hate how Classic WoW actually plays like.

Agree 100%!
Industry is jacked right now because of greedy mtx and gating practices to extend play but lets give it a shot in classic.
I don’t get that either.
This is exactly what people have claimed they want to get away from.
Now some want to throw extra money at blizz for a headstart? What?
Uh huh.
Also i don’t see any of the known alts of the biggest proponent of this idea.
That’s really odd…
You on a different alt BW or just haven’t left your hot take yet?

Blizz has to be laughing at the irony of ideas like this right now…

I would happily pay $100+ for a week early access, money isn’t a issue for me. Then I’ll no life it for the first week and own all the devilsaur leather…

This attitude right here is why gaming is where it’s at today.
Thanks. And a big :fu: too!

I don’t game today, haven’t touched a game since wrath bar the odd mobile game on the toilet.
But if they did an early release, I would take full advantage of the situation, why wouldn’t I?
But I in no way endorse this idea…

That generally didn’t happen. Like I said, as people play, their leveling was largely individualized outside of instances, which means the population spread out naturally based on playtime. Most people are rather casual.

The most often cases of masses of players was world pvp which could bring down the zone, or someone doing an event for the express purpose of crashing a zone, which led to bans.

Battlegrounds + dishonorable kills knocked out most mass world pvp, so it wasn’t much of an issue.

AQ event was notorious for being a laggy experience, but the areas around AQ weren’t highly populated except for the small window of time around the opening. Sithilis was pretty empty for most of its existence in vanilla.

You are talking about entire zones designed to handle large populations spread out everywhere. The starting areas are small areas with very few objectives.

I think with modern hardware and software the system can overcome the majority of the vanilla issues we used to have. How they make it work in classic is something else.

So what? Is that supposed to have some sort of meaningful point? You’re just repeating yourself. You think everyone is wrong, selfish, and hypocritical because they don’t agree with you.

Yeah, that still doesn’t make early access a good idea.

That’s not bad, although don’t most expansion come out during weekdays? how has the rush been on launch, last one I played on launch was cata and i had to power trough for about 2 hrs to truly get ahead of the curve.

I am going to see how busy the night elf areas are. If they are crazy I will just wait a week to start.

As people keep saying over and over again there is no rush

I would totally pay for this. 49.95 gets you the game, early access, a few gold to start with, some bags, and maybe a free mount to unlock when you hit level 20?

I don’t know- what else could be included?

Your showing your age here.

Mounts aren’t till lvl 40 and they cost 100g for both training and mount.

Bags where a key part of the economy and runecloth bags where about 10g each.

And starting with gold is a big no since with that you are already inflating the economy which is a problem.

A simple package could be 2-3 day early access, a unique tabard, a new pet (not the old ones), 1 free race/faction change, at 20-30 dollars.

I’ll pay $50 x 2 for this option. No mount, no gold…Just access to servers

Race/faction changes weren’t added until long after Classic, so not that one either. Otherwise, yes–“just throw in something trivial like a mount” is the most Modern attitude I could imagine, even without the “at level 20” flag.
