While herbing and mining in the great Isle of Dorn, it occurred to me to try and stop for pools as well as nodes. My fishing is 300, but I don’t have a lot of threads yet, so I’m using the perception tool enchant, and it seemed that the difference in my take at the end of the 30 minute Truesight run was virtually identical gold wise to just herbing and mining. Am I missing something, it seems it should add value as fishing is more annoying… ??
If I happen upon a shark pool, it is very worth it to make a stop. I did the derby trick with the alt army for a few weeks and the weaverline is at full thread for the warband so I cannot speculate for the truesight pots. It must add to the weaverline though.
Truesight only shows hidden mining and herbing nodes.
Perception is a bit unclear in its effect on fishing. But if you’re looking at mining/herbalism, the 120 perception increases perception by 4%. That does not mean you have 4% more drops though. That means when a rare item drops you have 4% greater chance to get a second one. The resulting probability change is so small that it would be nearly imperceptible. E.g. if a rare item has a 5% drop chance and you have 30% perception, you have 0.05*.3= 0.015 =1.5% chance for perception to proc. Increasing this to 34% gives you 0.05*.34=0.017= 1.7% chance. You’d have to be able to perceive a difference of 2/1000 amid random noise.
For fishing though, none of the stats are shown, so it’s unclear what scaling it has or if it follows similar rules.
Perception has been done dirty in TWW . It may also be just feeling but a true sight seems to boost the finding of the KP items in gathering. Not the subject of the thread I know, sorry. Love that pots though, so simple yet so effective. Seriously though mobilize your alt army for the derby and that weaverline will be topped in no time!
No this is not a TWW thing. It’s been like this since DF. The only reason it was good before was because you had 100% chance to get elements so you actually had your perception chance for that to drop. Skinning has nearly zero chance of it activating in DF and people complained about it all throughout DF.
I may have undervalued the fish (for fillets)… My most recent 30 minute truesight trawling of Dorn without fish only yielded about 5k on the AH…, I did quite a bit better with fish on my previous run though it wasn’t a precise 30 minute run, so the exact number is not so exact. Still an improvement I think though.
I’ll get on that derby thing, as weak as perception seems to be, the chant likely doesn’t compete well against the thread with a bit of progress.
For fishing, it pops up in yellow when it procs and says your perception help you catch an extra one. It’s pretty low chance. When I have all the best stuff and buffs on, I would guess it happens in 1 out of 50 catches. It sounds close to what you described.
