To all who are complaining Blizz employees have to work thanksgiving

Do you also refuse to do any non-essential purchases on thanksgiving? Do you make sure your grocery shopping is completely done so you don’t have to run to the shops for cranberry sauce? Do you avoid the sales which start on Thursday instead of Friday so the employees can have the day off? To you avoid Black Friday because someone has to get the store ready the day before? Do you make sure the tank is full of gas so you don’t need to stop on the way to the parents place? etc etc.

If you’re not avoiding non-essential activities that require someone to work, why not? You supposedly care about Blizzard employees. Why don’t you care about other workers?

A lot of people work on thanksgiving that shouldn’t have to. Do you actively support that with your behaviour? Or are you just virtue signalling?

Yes, yes, yes, yes, and yes.

Stop generalizing and assuming.

I didn’t do either. I asked a question. If you read into it, that’s a you problem.

If you do that, then great. Most people don’t, or the stores wouldn’t be open.

It’s a fair question to ask if those complaining about Blizzard are part of the majority who don’t.

Avoiding anything non-essential. As in, major life impacting is fine. We need cops and medical.

We don’t need to be able to go to walmart. Or the bar.

Yeah, actually as someone who was once a retail worker in college who had to work at 11pm on Thanksgiving. I avoid forcing anyone to work who doesn’t have to already.

They would not have picked these dates if the employees didn’t agree to work on the holidays. They probably have already been giving plenty of time off during covid and fires anyways, and have no issue doing it. They wouldn’t do it if people didn’t want to be there.

In healthcare we volunteer if we dont have kids or take turns each year. No one is happy to work holidays.

there are people workin for blizz with a passion for making games obv there will be some dedicated workers for it

I worked at Radioshack on black Friday from 5:00AM to 1:30 AM. I sold a lot, and then, since I was a keyholder, I remerched the store after we closed. Sleep is HIGHLY overrated !

I would think they’d be getting paid time and a half or something, or some sort of bonus on thanksgiving day.

People act like blizzard is making everybody work in this horrid factory with no shoes allowed and the conditions are just horrendous.

Probably the ceos are throwing turkey at the workers too. Smfh

Exactly. To assume that they are being forced to work thanksgiving of all days is asanine.

As long as your feet aren’t stinky it’s kewl.

Meh.

I always thought Holiday’s were a bit silly.

There’s nothing preventing you and your family from getting together at any other date.

If business continue to make strong profits during holidays, more and more workers will be working during them.

Which is good for me since I get holiday pay during them, so I guess that’s a plus for them existing.

nintendo employees have cubee rooms where they take off their shoes and relax every workplace needs that

If these people are complaining about people working holidays. Then they should demand that all WoW services be shut down on all holidays. Because as long as the servers are up then people will be at work. Otherwise, they are a hypocrite.

People get forced to work holidays all the time. I’ve worked hospitality. I didn’t have a choice. I now work retail. I also often don’t get a choice about holidays.

It’s part of the job and I’m an adult so I do it without complaining. It is naive however to assume that someone automatically wants to work the day just because they are. Obviously, it is also stupid to assume that NO ONE wants to work a holiday. Some don’t have families, or the extra money is worth it.

I’m just curious if those so upset about Blizz employees working are consistent or not.

I worked 11pm - 7am and then had to return to close and restock the store from 7pm-11am the the same day. It was miserable and honestly shouldn’t be a thing.
