Hey all, I was just wondering how you get titles like “Example” the Exalted or Example the Prophet. I see so many people with different titles and I have a 120 toon but dont know how to earn these titles. Any help would be great, thanks.
Titles are earned by completing achievements in game. If you scroll through your achievement list you’ll see ones that list the achievement name, followed by “Reward: Title ‘the Exalted’”, among other things.
Here’s a comprehensive list of the titles in game. As you can see, there are quite a few of them. If you click on one that interests you, then scroll down to “reward from”, it’ll tell you which achievement you must complete to obtain it. For example, right at the top of the list, to get “Flame Keeper (Name)”, you will have to complete the achievement “The Flame Keeper”.
In most cases, clicking on the comment section of these posts will give you helpful hints and tips from other players on how to go about actually getting the achievement.
thanks for the quick response, you learn something new everyday! cheers amigo
No problem! Stick around for Udiza’s response as well, she’s always dropping useful info too and is typing as we speak.
There’s a large variety of ways to get them. Some are super easy, some require lots of grinding, some take skill, and some are a limited time only thing.
For an easy one, there’s “of the Nightfall” which you get by doing “hard-mode” Sarthereon on 10-player mode. (At 120, “hard-mode” is faster than doing it the normal way.) For that one, you set your legacy raid size to 10 player by right-clicking your portrait, run into the Obsidium Sanctum raid instance under Wyrmrest Temple in Dragonblight, and beeline for Sarthareon in the middle of the zone. (“Hard-mode” requires you to kill him without first killing the mini-bosses, so as I said, it’s actually faster.) The 25 man also gives a title “Twilight Vanquisher” which is just as easy to get. (But the lockout between 10 and 25 man is shared, so a character can only do one of them during a week.)
There are also some that require grinding. One example would be “the Exalted” you mentioned, which requires 40 factions to exalted. (There are also more titles for even more factions to exalted, such as “The Beloved” and “the Admired.”
Some are tied to limited time events. Zipster mentioned “The Flame Keeper” which you get from doing the Midsummer holiday achievments. That event is running right now. Many of the holidays have a title for doing their achievements.
Some titles require player skill. For example, each PvP season has a gladiator title that you get by being one of the best players in arena that season.
Some titles get retired when new content comes out that might make them trivial. An example of this would be “the Undying” which became unavailable when Cataclysm came out, as being level 85 would have made it too easy, and they wanted it to remain special.
There are even a couple of temporary titles. One of the quests in the Firelands legendary staff quest chain give you a two hour “Blessed Defender of Nordrassil” title. And there’s the always popular 30-minute title “Slayer of Stupid, Incompetent and Disappointing Minions” you get every time you kill Maloriak in Blackwing Descent.
The roughest title in the game is “the Insane”.
To get it you grind cartel members forever to wind up hated with the Steamwheadle Cartel which will attempt to kill you on sight thereafter.
Unfortunately, you won’t be able to do questlines that have cartel members handing out quests in them after that.
Once you get the title however, there are things you can do to regain your reputation with them but it’s also a long… long grind.
this is no longer the case… unless you do it this way by choice.
you can now have Bloodsail and Steamwheedle rep at the same time
I lost count of how many titles I have, but to be honest…the “insane” is not one of them. That is a grind that I just can’t seem to get the “hupsa” up to do it. Getting 100 Exalted rep was enough!
