I recently came back to the game and I’m having a lot of trouble understanding how to properly progress through the campaign of The War Within.
When I logged in, I was immediately placed into the current patch content in the Undermine — without any apparent prerequisite. However, to actually complete the achievement “The War Within”, I found out that I need to have Renown level 4 with all four factions, or I can’t pick up the quest “Lingering Shadows”.
The problem is:
- There is no clear indication in the game that Renown 4 is required.
- The quest is even listed in my “Recommended” section, but nothing tells me why I can’t start it.
- Even worse, the next parts of the campaign (after “The War Within”) are marked on the map as if they’re available, but the NPCs simply don’t show up — making it seem like the game is broken.
The result is a very confusing experience for returning players like me. I’m being shown quests and chapters I can’t access yet, and I’m not told why I can’t access them.
Is this behavior intended? And if so, could there please be some in-game indication of what’s missing (like the renown requirement), and maybe some consistency with the quest markers?
