I talked to my the guild mage and he told me he is saving up his titan residuum, probably didn’t have anything more to buy. (Just how many specs does a mage have.)
I have 415 azerite armor for all three specs and 2344 titan residuum.
Should i buy another random azerite armor hoping it’ll be better than the one I have, or save up for azerite armor in 8.2?
Or simplified the question, is there new azerite armor in 8.2 you can buy with titan residuum?
Or is there going to be new currency?
I’m really interested in this as well. I’ve heard claims that a Blizzard blue said 8.2 will still feature titan residuum as the main currency, but we need more information than that.
I’m still searching for that perfect 415 piece (I should’ve just saved for the trait specific one since I’ve already blown well over 8k residuum through the random once, horrible vendor system )
Anywho, but as 8.2 approaches, should I wait and save it? Is it going to make a difference? Or is 1 piece of gear going to cost 50k residuum (and drop rates will also increase 10 fold) making your current residuum pointless?
It kinda sucks they mention they are still using titan residuum yet leave us in the dark on the prices to see if its even worth saving or maxing out our gear before 8.2 lands.

They usually use tactics to prevent this sort of saving behavior across the patches. When TR was introduced in 8.1, the amount of TR required for the various mythic Uldir pieces was:
Random 385 - 165
Specific 385 - 675
When 8.1.5 dropped and the new raid came out, they made the new prices for Mythic BoD gear:
Random 415 - 1725
Specific 415 - 7150
By massively increasing the currency required for the mythic version of the current tier… saving during 8.1 for 8.1.5 wasn’t really a viable strat for the vast majority of players. At MOST you’d save yourself a week’s worth of TR, and that’s with huge amounts of grinding and people helping you. Imagine you save 10k of TR for 8.2, and then the new amounts come out and you require 100k TR to buy the new mythic piece while you net 20k TR per week. At that point saving all that TR helped you 1/2 - 1 weeks worth of TR for the next tier.
IMO… unless you’re trying to push for WF progression… it’s pointless. Just try to roll better pieces for your MS and gear your OS’s in the mean time. I wouldn’t save. Just my 2c though.
Is 8.2 is going to have higher level azerite armor? 435? How much is that going to cost?
This is what they will do. Before last patch the Lead Dev mentioned that at the most, a person would be 1 week ahead of others by saving their TR.
I think it would be nice if they had BIS gear at that vendor : /
8.2 mythic azerite level should be item level 445, and the costs nobody knows – I would expect 10x what it costs now, with weekly chest TR and scrapped item TR to rise appropriately.
Yeah the system works to prevent people from saving really. As stated by someone earlier, you can save, but you will at most get maybe a mythic piece next patch a week earlier.
I usually just keep buying 415 pieces for all my specs now until I get pieces I like
Missing information is, I already have 415 gear on all three (paladin) specs, from mythic BoD and bought.
I could gamble another 1725 titan residuum on a random azerite armor hoping for a better trait or save up for 435/445 gear. Saving up seems like a better idea.
Save away then. Just realize that at most it’ll net you 1/2 to 1 weeks worth of benefit in 8.2. And that’d be with hardcore saving.
The new naga zone has ways of gaining 430 AP gear outside of Titan Residuum through the pearl system, you may want to hold off and see how that works.
Starts at around 6:55
Prismatic Manapearls… so 8.2 will introduce new currency.
Does that mean Titan Residuum will obsolete? Probably yes, no point in saving up.
What I’ve heard is titan residue will still be the currency. If you get 800 per week now you will likely get 4000 in 8.2
New 440 random would probably cost 11000 residue.
What’s left… can you buy 335+ azerite armor with titan residuum? Would it be easier to buy 335+ with manapearls?
