This is a thread for sharing the things most people probably already know, but that you use to make your game experience better.
When you set your Hearthstone, it saves exactly where you’re standing and which way you’re facing. If you hearth to inside an inn, point your character at the door and you won’t have to get your bearings when you arrive.
The Valley of Wisdom (Tauren center) in Orgrimmar has an inn, mailbox, bank, auction house, and repairs all within a small area and all outside. This means you can do all your AH/bank/mail stuff while mounted. You can even set your Hearthstone to the steps of the inn so that you can mount up as soon as you arrive. The only downside of VoW is that the trade goods merchant in the tent is missing some key goods like Simple Flour (for Darkmoon cooking quest) and many types of dyes for low-level crafting. There’s even a forge, anvil, and bonfire which you can use as a cooking fire.
To avoid the Orgrimmar portal room, teleport to Tol Barad, then take the portal to Orgrimmar two steps to your right. You’ll arrive at the Earth Shrine above VoW. You can either get a mage port, or farm up the cloak from Tol Barad which lets you teleport there. This is also the quickest way to get to the Uldum portal. (An Ally player can confirm if it works in SW, too.)
When you level a new toon and arrive in Nazjatar, do not unlock any of the other flight points in the zone. That way, wherever you are in Nazjatar, your Flight Whistle takes you back to your main quest hub and portal area.
If you’re taking a new character to Mechagon, farm the Malfunctioning Beastbot and Rustfeather for the anti-gravity pack recipe. Also, farm the Ultra-Safe Mechagon Transport from Gear Checker Cogstar. Cogstar is summoned by killing a lot of Upgraded Sentries. He makes a zone-wide yell when he spawns.
When unlocking your legendary cloak on alts, there are two scenarios you can skip- just before the Halls of Origination run, by talking to Magni at the entrance, and the Engine of Nalak’sha part, by talking to Ra-den.
The cheapest enchanting mats are from Benthic armour tokens. Now that I’ve gotten everything I need with them, all of my Prismatic Pearls are used to buy Benthic tokens that I mail to my enchanter. For other gear, my rule of thumb is to send all green BoEs for scrapping to whichever toon needs Expulsom, and everything blue or better goes to my enchanter.
And someone just told me a new one!
During the Legendary Cloak questline, do not open the caches you get from the invasions until after you have the cloak, otherwise you won’t get any echoes from them.
Small tip for doing the rune match mini-events for chest WQs in Nazjatar, also for the uncrossing lines quest. Make sure you’re facing an open area when you activate the object. This is because you can end up having the runes/lines/other interactables clip into objects and make it to where you can’t finish the quest.
This is also bad as there is no (end game) option and you have to relog to get out of it if this happens.
Yep. Look at your buffs. One of them is the game. Right click it off and you’ll get booted out. You can also spam this on the match colours game to get new load outs but continue progression for the quest.
Do you hate getting from World Quests in Xibala (SW Zandalar) back to the rest of the continent? Sick of using up a flight whistle or hearthstone cooldown?
Well, right by the beach with all the Dwarven mole machines is the Alliance entrance to the Motherlode Dungeon. Enter there, then turn around and exit again, and your Horde character is now at the Horde entrance on the Zul’dazar docks!
Ally characters, if you’re prowling around Zul’dazar, I bet you can use the reverse trick by entering through the submarine entrance.
On the tortollan shell matching WQ game, you can spot the crabs if they’re on the right side of the “board” if you just watch for a second or two. You’ll see their claws poke out the side as they move. You can also spot the little val’kyrs and the robots by the glow the give under the bottom of the shell
Kind of an obvious one but hold off on doing emissaries with weapon and armour caches for as long as possible until you are certain you can’t get any more gear upgrades.
On Alts that means doing the Najatar quest line and using a main to gear you up with 385 ilvl benthic tokens or 410 Ilvl black empire gear tokens for most slots, then do the black empire quest line and do the two invasions.
Finally log out with each upgrade prior to engaging in any world quests that offer loot as world quest gear scales with ilvl but doesn’t immediately do so without a logout and login.
Finally make sure you have the right loot specialization selected to avoid grief.
