Hey guys, hope you can offer me some nice advice here.
So my pet-collector heart is driving me to take on the challenge of taming Fenryr. I don’t currently have BFA, so there’s no “just run in there and nuke everything!!!1!!111!!!”, and besides, I’m really trying to do this the “legit” way. I’ve watched a tutorial, but quickly realized that with so many, there has to be so many various tactics and tricks, so I turned to here to see if different people could offer advice through their personal experiences. I gave it one go, but I’ll just say it didn’t go too well…
I should mention I’m unsure if my ilvl is competent for this; it’s 211 (don’t laugh, I was gone for a year of Legion…). What do you recommend it to be?
Thanks for any and all tips! <3
I love that name on your character.
Get some 225 greens and/or333 blues and a couple of levels if you are unsure. You have to defeat him first before taming him.
Is there ilvl 225 gear a 110 can wear? I am also pretty sure that 300+ is BfA endgame so those aren’t options in this case unless a 110 can somehow acquire it.
OP specifically stated:
@OP the best I can offer is go in with a Clefthoof and go slow. You can also use Camouflage to get around most enemies. I don’t know if being 110 would present a problem with Camouflage since you are close to their level though.
Do you have any other legendaries, especially another legendary at 265?
I don’t think there is an easy way to increase your ilvl at this point. Crafted gear can get to 215 but you have to sink 10 Obliterum into each piece. Not exactly cheap.
Either 110, or 111. It’s the first crafted things LW and Eng. learn in BfA. AH’s should have them if one doesn’t have those professions.
Nice catch, I meant 233.
I missed the not having BfA as well. That’s what I get for posting on my phone.
I should add this. Clefthooves are the new BM tank pets, Corehounds are nice as well but Blood of the Rhino is so wonderful for BM. For non-BM use Scalehides.
Crafted gear requires 111.
@Whim, thanks! But yeah, no BfA yet.
@Tyriaan & Whim, pardon my ignorance, but isn’t any pet in the tank specialization a “tank” pet? Really don’t know all I’ve missed with hunter news over the year I was absent.
Camouflage does work unless I get much too close, so that will come in handy.
For legendaries, I have two currently: The Shadow Hunter’s Voodoo Mask and Sephuz’s Secret.
Clefthooves, core hounds, and scalehides are the only pets with a shell shield and are Ferocity. The Clefthoof shield is on a two minute cooldown but they have " blood of the rhino" which increases healing done to them. This makes them the best tanking pets which is why we are recommending that you use them for an at level dungeon run. They can take more damage then any other pet.
I know…
Ferocity Pets get a Leech which is better than the extra Health you get from Tenacity Pets.
Pick up the ring that lets you have a couple of extra Talents.
All right, thanks! I’ll have to pick me up a clefthoof, then.
