Tips for torghast pls

I am stuck on both torghast layer 3. Currently ilvl 160

Any tips on how to beat the final bosses of each torghast?

I downed grand maleare at around 10% hp then i keep dying because of enraged. I cant interrupt all his roars.

Same with sydon.

For those who finished torghast as a mage, any tips or good power ups i can look for to make my life easier? I wouldnt mind respecing to fire / arcane. I am currently frost atm

its super cheesy, but theres a fire skill that makes your fireblast knock them a few feet in the air, and if you stack enough cdr skills, they wont reach the ground for about 30 seconds after your combust rotation lol. cleared both wings with it

There is a very good combo of powers for torghast that you should take if you see.

  1. Makes your shield also cast the other 2 spec specific shields.
  2. Increases the absorb of your shield spells by 40% per stack of the anima power.

If you luck out and get both of those powers, you’re basically invincible. Nothing can take down all 3 boosted shields before the CD comes back up.

If interrupts are an issue for you, hopefully you get the power where fireblast launches the enemy into the air. It’s a short cool down that can make a huge difference.

Make sure you are using your mirror images and alter time to their full extent. If you get the power that increases your shields by 40%, that can be helpful.

The sixth floor was a huge spike in difficulty but I did clear it with an ilvl a little lower the yours so it is possible.

Good luck!

Honestly Torg 3 was kicking my butt too. I’ll have to try these tips, but my rng was giving me crap spell enhancements as well.

So I go Arcane and rarely have ran into any problems (including on highest floors in Beta). If you want to see the kind of damage possible with this method I am including a gif below that I created during beta (on the highest floor last boss).

First, try to stack this uncommon anima power (although one is fine for the lower floors):

I also take the power that has neutral maw rats appear at your mage table.

  1. Use touch of the magi on the maw rat to get four charges before the boss.
  2. Presence of Mind for instant Arcane Blast
  3. Timewarp
  4. Arcane Power (talented with Rune of Power)
  5. Greater Invisibility
  6. Arcane Blast
  7. Boss Dead

This is also helpful:

If you can stack that up on the floor below or two floors below it will add to the overall damage of your initial Arcane Blast.

Also these in particular can add into some initial big dam—but they aren’t necessarily needed, just helpful:

Archmage’s Ultimatum:

You want to take the Equipoise talent (can’t remember the name of the talent right now, but it’s the while above 75% mana you deal 8% increased Arcane Damage one . . . Third from the right on last row) and you’ll have Overpowered as well.

And

Allowing you to take both RoP and IF.

This is an example of it’s damage on Beta (boss on the highest floor). Keep in mind that this is actually not the maximum amount of damage too—I started with 0 charges when ideally you’d want to perform this method with 4 charges.

https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/770805028196974593/777578742003925012/e3f254cdcf2e9cac1bae5559ab7da81c.mp4

I didn’t find out the Mawrat trick until later on and since the boss is the only enemy on the floor it’s hard to get those four charges. However, you can do it by using your mirror images beforehand:
1.Images
2.ToTM Boss
3.Timewarp
4.PoM
5.Arcane Power (talented Rune) + Trinket
6.Greater Invisible
7.Arcane Blast

The only issue with this method is that you risk the boss resetting or worse . . . resetting but going into combat with your AB and no way to reset because Greater Invisibility is on CD at that point.

I think the community is unaware that mage is probably the worst class at torghast. As frost I need to move slowly and clear everything. Then basically facetank the boss. No other class has these issues.

Thank you for the tips guys! Yes its really difficult for mages to solo torghast without self heal. Eating food between pulls make the run super slow.

And frost mage ability to kite is basically non existent on layer 3 torghast final boss.

The fire debuff is insanely brutal and the other wing doesnt give us any forms of heal at all since you cant eat food.

I will try again once the server is up. Ty guys for the tips

If not i might go arcane and see how that goes lol

As I was going through Torghast, I realized that I do not use Alter Time nearly as often as I should.

same, i only use it whenever i get the anima power that gives skill cooldown during spell cast on alter time, im n ot sure how to utilize it properly yet

Here is a more generic list of traits I always try to get. Although I play Arcane I do believe that for the most part these are some strong traits for the specs.

PRIORITIZE FOR LAST BOSS (IF ARCANE):
(To see a way to nuke the last boss with relative ease read my post above . . . these anima powers are the three important ones for that strat)

Runecloth Wrappings — The damage of Arcane Blast, is increased by 2000% when you cast it while Invisible.

Seeker’s Scroll — Breaking a Destructible Object increases the damage of your next Arcane Blast by 10%. This effect stacks up to 100 times.

Alluring Cheese — Your Conjure Refreshment also conjures Alluring Cheese, luring up to 3 neutral Mawrats.

OVERALL DECENT:
Spellweaver’s Mojo — Your Fire, Frost, and Arcane spells cause the target to take 30% increased damage from your other two elements for 8 sec.

(Paired with) Fire Juggler — Your Fire Blast launches your enemy into the air.

I personally really enjoy Spellweaver’s Mojo. It can provide significant buffs to AoE or Single Target. I could see this being very good for Fire/Frost AoE by using Arcane Explosion before Flamestrike/Blizzard/Frozen Orb.

For AoE while playing Arcane:
Touch of the Magi—>
Frost Nova to apply power—>
Arcane Barrage—>Arcane Orb—>Arcane Barrage—>Arcane Explosion

For ST:
Touch of the Magi—>
(Frost Nova)—>Fireblast to apply power Arcane Missile Spam or Arcane Blast—>Arcane Barrage—>Fireblast (repeat)

STRONG PASSIVES:
Archmage’s Ultimatum — Arcane : Gain the Overpowered talent.
This allows you to take both: Overpowered and Enlightened

Archmage’s Lesson — Gain the Incanter’s Flow talent. If you already have this talent, you may select another talent in the same row.
This allows you to take both: Incanter’s Flow and Rune of Power

Mad Wizard’s Intellect — At the beginning of each floor, you will receive an intuition, telling you to cast a series of spells in a certain order.
If you successfully cast these spells in the correct order, your Intellect will be increased by 10%.

VERY HELPFUL (CC):
Polymorbid Rat Liver — Teaches you Polymorph, which works on Undead creatures.

(Pairs well with) Tome of Zoomancy — Polymorphed creatures regenerate health 75% more slowly, and the first 3 damaging attacks or spells that they receive do not break the effect.

This truly will save you on some upper-level floors with large packs full of Elites . . . it isn’t so much needed on the lower-levels, but it can definitely be helpful if you are undergeared or having damage/survival issues.

SURVIVABILITY:
Secret Spices — Killing a Mawrat increases your maximum health by 2%, up to 100%.

Resolute Medallion — The absorb of your Barrier spells is increased by 50%.

Triune Ward — Casting any Barrier spell grants the effects of Blazing Barrier, Ice Barrier, and Prismatic Barrier.

Protective Phantasma — Looting Phantasma grants you an absorb shield for 65 per Phantasma, up to a maximum of (1 * Total health). The absorption stacks, and lasts 5 min.

I think it’s fairly obvious from your previous thread that you’re not actually playing well and blamin the class for your lack of skill isn’t going to help you.

We must be playing different classes then. I find Torghast relatively easy. I’ve died from traps more than I have mobs (and I can count the number of times I’ve died to traps on one hand).

Even if Mage can’t faceroll through Torghast (which I believe to an extent we can), does that mean that there is a problem? I don’t think so. The anima powers we can gain provide a lot of survivability that synergizes well with our kit. Arcane can trivialize the final boss if you were smart with your anima powers. While I know you stated you play Frost, it still doesn’t diminish the fact that Mage as a whole does not really have difficulties in Torghast. Maybe you need to change how you are approaching the runs.

Thanks for the detailed tips hotandtrashy! I will certainly try arcane once i give up on doing it in my frost lol! Currently trying to gear a bit more and see what happens. When its almost reset time and all hope is lost i will definitely try arcane. Appreciate the guide a lot bro

There is a anima power that will increase your arcane blast damage by 2000%,(yes two thousand percent) if its cast from invisible.

Pop your rune of power, and arcane power, hit invisible and arcane blast once to one shot any boss in there. Including the rank 3 floor 6 bosses.

Alright so this isn’t the best combo by far, but I’ve had a lot of fun with it. You must become the Rat-King. All you need are two specific Anima powers and a 3rd for style points.

  1. Mawrats explode on death.
  2. Summon cheese to spawn 3 mawrats.
  3. Rule of cool Dimensional blinking anima to kill said mawrats.

Then you summon Mawrats for about ~2min, pull the boss into them, blink through them and watch the boss explode. The more Mawrat explosion anima powers you can stack, the better you’ll do.

In other news, I’ve done a dozen or so runs through Layer 3 Torghast, running different strategies and had no issues (except when the server corks it). Mostly Frost/Arcane. I can’t speak for the speed, as I try to enjoy myself more than speedrun, so it usually takes about an hour. Seems quite comfortable on mage.

I also don’t go for speed, my runs are around 40 minutes, and that is killing everything. I mean I am not sure why people are finding mage challenging for this. The only thing I can think of is that they are mass pulling and not being smart about their anima powers.

I had multiple Runecloth Wrappings and literally 2 shot the level 3 floor 6 boss (83k dps but it settled at 62k)

PoM > Touch of Magi > arc power + mirror image > greater invis > arc blast

Note: if you drop aggro by using invis before mirror image you get funky behavior.

Take the time to fully explore each floor. The more anima powers you get and more ghosts you save (to stack up the int % buff), the easier the run becomes.

If you’re dying a lot, you might be pulling too many mobs. As arcane, the skeletons can be a pain if you forget they they do a melee explosion which stacks an increased physical damage taken debuff.

My runs may not be the fastest, but I haven’t come close to dying even once while clearing layer 3 of soulforge and reaches, so I think I’ve been doing well.
