Hi. I’m needing some help or encouragement… something motivational .
i have been hitting a wall and its starting to depress me. i know of priests personally who aren’t exactly what i would call agile or alert type of gamers with the staff, claiming “its not even hard” or “i didnt need many consumes” is starting to wear on me. i know, jealousy is not going to help me here.
is there a high level of randomness to the event, or is my triage just that bad?
im at the point mana really isnt the issue anymore, although some attempts i am going to 10% with pots and target dummies on cooldown (in a act of desperation after going in with full buffs failed, i spec’d into spirit tap and force it with masterwork target dummies. not cheap, but very effective).

so any blessings or words of wisdom would be appreciated with any tips you might have to offer. just looking for some positivity after the wind has been taken from my sails.

and how do i track progress during the event, where is this “death post”. any addons for it?
as of now i can get to just past 6 mins into the event. am i even getting close?

also i know of a buff that havenfire puts out after so many make it across, but yet i might see it once per attempt. i usually dont get any, is there something im doing or not doing to prevent it from triggering?

and Tipsout, please revise your youtube guide. it is the number one recommended video for this quest, but yet it is full of information that isnt applicable on classic servers.

Mana was my real limiting factor when I did it in blues and greens. I needed like 2 dark runes and 2 mana pots per attempt. Talents really matter too. Holy nova is a must, and as you mentioned, spirit tap from shadow is helpful if mana is an issue. I know you said it’s not an issue but I wanted to cover all my bases here.

You didn’t mention oil of immolation. This item does wonders on the skeleton packs, letting you focus on healing and dispelling the NPCs. Are you noticing any patterns with your failed attempts? Dots killing before you can heal? Skeleton archers picking them off?

it does not activate from the skeleton deaths. would be useless here and a waste of points if i were not cheesing it with engineering. as for talents i have right now im running a split between disc and holy taking anything to build my mana efficiency up along way to mental strength and improved healing. with spirit tap of course.

im going through a lot of firebloom at an alarming rate at a time like this. such missed opportunity lol.
only patterns i notice is the difficulty of certain waves being ramped up over others. like for example, i had one spawn and ther was 6 of them needing dispelled with a mix of 4 purples and 2 greens. or they will start focus firing arrows on to one target after switching off of other peasants mid wave.
i wont be shy about it though, theres some attempts where i fall very short on my dispells and i am getting better at that.

Oh yeah, dispels are absolutely the key to the fight here. It’s been a while since I’ve done it or read a guide, but I remember the majority of my mana being spent of dispels and renews to top them off. Those dots HURT!

Bring a Protection Paladin and a Bear specced Druid. They cannot move, but will aggro the skeletons. You can heal them, but they mustn’t do one dang thing other than the reflective damage of Thorns and Ret Aura or The Cleaner screws you over.

Or did this get fixed?

you really got to go there dont you? i already know i might have picked the wrong faction, but now im getting the feeling i might have chosen an inferior healer…
i kid, i kid. but paladins are awesome.

i havent tried enlisting other to help me yet. im trying to avoid that route, but if assistance was available i would prob take it at this point.
im not as excited about this new alt as i was a few days ago sadly.

Spells needed:
Rank 1 holy nova
Rank 3 renew
Rank 3 flash heal
Abolish disease

Spell priority:
Holy nova skeles
Abolish purple mobs
Abolish green mobs
Flash heal mobs below 50% hp
Renew mobs above 50% hp

Consumables:
Dark rune
Major mana pot
Oil of immolation

Strategy:
Enable name plates both friendly and enemy.

When skeles spawn hit them with a holy nova or oil of immolation to conserve mana.

Always prioritize dispelling purple and green mobs.

If the target is below 50% hp, flash heal. Above, renew.

Mana pot and rune on cooldown.

It’s a fun and unique quest, don’t give up or resort to cheese. You can do this!

I recently got Benediction, about 3 weeks ago.

This is basically what I did, just in case it helps you out any:

I died once figuring out how things worked.

I had a druid friend using thorns sit in bear form at the mouth of the cave. 95% of skeletons aggroed him (This made the run way easier) I had to cast only 1 Holy Nova through the entire fight which really saved me a lot of mana. The druid can heal himself periodically if needed. I did not need to use oil of immolation because the skeletons just were not on me.

I used a lot of consumables, Mageblood potion, Mana regen food, even that new oil on the weapon to increase + healing. I did not use a flask, but maybe the extra 2000 mana could make a difference for you.

I used the dispell that dispells over time. I mostly used rank 4 flash heal, just a low rank renew a couple of times.

It’s definitely can be stressful, but you will get it eventually. Make sure all of the health bars are shown over the peasants, that makes it a lot easier.

I used The giant mana potions whenever they were off cooldown, and a couple of Demonic Runes, I found them both necessary.

my pride has prevented me from doing so, so far. the days grow cold…

its the one expense i have spared so far. but if i keep it up with the target dummies the way im going, im not really saving anything over them. it would make a difference at least on the 1st attempt using it if i were to refill 100% mana with it. idea is still on the table.

Holy nova is a must. You should farm some strat holy water also. Mechanical yeti from everlook quest helps also. Dark runes and mana pots for mana issues. Also get some immolation pots

i beat it without the aid of any allies by just renew / dispel spam and holy nova i think r3? on skeles, not sure, whatever was just enough to 1 hit them, i was full holy in greens/blues and a few zg items, i didn’t have any consumes. I found casting heals put me out of position too much and was kinda vulnerable to push back. When I tried using lower rank flash heals I just couldn’t keep up, and using larger ranks of heals caused mana problems. I am a dwarf however which means i can just let myself rot to very low health and then desperate prayer myself for free back to near enough full which i’m sure helps a lot.

  2. Spec out of spirit tap, put the points elsewhere, and get Demonic/Dark runes. (Yes, for some reason, demonic/dark runes share a cooldown with Target dummies…)

Renew, Abolish, downranked holy nova, and oil of immolation are your friends. So is downranked Flash Heal

Also remember they just have to cross the line alive not above a certain health threshold. Some is judging if they’ll make it as long as they’re abolished.

i got some closure and finally finished it. spent way too much gold on needless consumables and transport to save buffs, that didnt make a difference in succeeding in the event. and i had plenty offers of help and was willing to take it, but timing wasnt on my side with any of them and it never followed through.

what worked for me at my gear level was r6 renew, r4 flash heal, r3 holy nova for the packs, and r5 shield, r6 flash heal, 9rank renew for my self.

consumes i used in my final attempt was flask of wisdom, nightfin, mageblood, sage elixir, and major mana potions. i ran out of immolation oils and was tired of going through so many. dark runes are too expensive on my low pop server, and farming up demonic runes were not an option to me as holy.
i only had priest player buffs with divine spirit on my successful run.

any healing spec will work just fine, i tried so many. i can only imagine the gimmicks shadow priests have to use for the skeletons. immolation oil is great, but i needed more bang for my buck. it just didnt clear them out fast enough for how hard they hit. too many and its a death or i had to start healing myself, so i just upranked my nova and tanked as many as i could with shield before wiping them with a single blast.
i suggest just throwing yourself at the wall and find whats working for you. so many guides out there with information that does not pertain to classic servers.(the attempts i made with spirit tap active via the target dummies made mana management so much better. wish we just had it with out the exploits of engineering in the fight. still completed it without, ran out of gold for those mats.)

as for strategy i basically just rolled renew on the pack and abolished as fast as i could. i would wait and use flash heal on one when they were nearing 20%.
important note, i had improved inner fire specced and i noticed a big difference tanking skeletons from when i didnt. its very important to keep it up and renew mid fight as the skeletons would go through my charges very quickly. again, they hit very hard for how little health they have.

best advice i can give is dont give up immediately if you get the bone on the 1st pack. just try you best to keep a positive attitude about it. repeated failures does not mean you are not a worthy priest. this ultimately, is not a test of skill in my opinion.

all said and done, i dont feel empowered or accomplished from completing this challenge. i feel lucky.
so many attempts shot down right out of the gate due to bad rng. there is just too much randomness in the encounter to feel as if i have skill in triage healing. i could go on about that,but im sure it dont need any explanation.

p.s. to reiterate my point of not giving up, i was able to complete it a 1/2 second after dying, still got the credit… good ol’ spell batching lol.

When I did it back in the day, there was an opposite faction priest doing it as well; I helped them, then they helped me. Good times.
