Tips for shaman healing!

Hey all, so just respec’d resto at 55, and everything is smooth for the most part. Just wondering if anybody has any tips for mana management? I try my best not to burn through it, but it happens.

Is this just a price to pay until hitting 60 and getting geared up? Any tips would be appreciated!

Proper healing gear and down-ranking spells my friend. Those are big factors in mana management. Don’t be afraid to ask group members to bandage themselves or use health potions when they can and especially if you’re low on mana mid-fight

Yeah, I’ve got the down ranking of spells going on. I was just curious of what others might be doing to save on mama.

You kinda have to play the balance game between keeping people above 55% hp while letting your MP5 kick in. Other than that its just gear and downranking.

Down ranking has a trade off. Spirit never kicks in if you are non stop spamming heals. The down rank method must be coupled with +healing gear. Or you have to cast too often.

If you don’t have enough +healing. Use the 5 second rule instead. Biggest heal but wait 5 seconds for spirit to start the mana regen.

Work on getting +healing.

Thank you, I knew about the 5 second rule. Been playing with that. Thanks all for the advice!

Alt is shaman, new to me. Please explain the 5 second rule for noob shaman

if a gnome is on the ground for 5 seconds, its still safe to eat.

err i mean after 5 seconds of last cast spell, you start to recover mana.

So do I have this right: I can cast several times in a row, but until I stop casting for 5 seconds, no mana regen? Ah that explains it, ty.

But … I can use melee during the 5 seconds, right? So time not entirely wasted?

Shaman value Mp5 more then +healing in early game, you don’t start heavy down ranking and stacking +healing until a bit later, bwl and beyond. Make sure you have a good amount of Mp5 on your gear, Mp5 continues while casting remember.

Spirit is also trash for most healers, there is talents to make it better, but a lot of specs aside from priest don’t make a lot of use of them.

It helps to run with a regular group. That way you learn what damage to anticipate, and you can pre drop mana tide or switch to bandages or drink a mana potion as the damage comes in/heals go out.

Chain heal is pretty much the only heal I use for the group other then tank, and its usually cast on the tank to jump to the melee dps taking dmg. Ranged dps will get bandage heals
