So I see posts about people talking about how honor isn’t properly calculated. With someone being standing 35 on Faerlina, I’ll explain how it works.

Blizzards estimate doesn’t count the diminishing returns of killing someone to a maximum of 4 times a day. You need an addon like Honor assist to calculate what you are actually getting for the day.
-
Your diminishing return resets after 24 hours of killing a player for the first time of the day.
-
The one thing that is buggy is aggro resetting abilities like Vanish, pally bubble, ice block, and feign death. Anyone who kills the player or adds damage to the kill after these effects diminished will be rewarded honor like the remaining hp was actually 100 percent. Rogues can completely shut down your honor gain if they vanish and die in stealth.
-
It seems like if too many people are gaining honor in the day, it takes the system a long time for honor to update and you may not see the updated honor until further in the day.
Last few tips to maximize honor gain for the day.
-
Try not to group more then 2-3 people in a group. A 100 percent to zero kill will reward 110-84 honor per kill. Solo killing is even better.
-
If grouped or by yourself and you see a enemy in combat with someone one your faction. It is not worth to get the tag if you are going to only be getting 20 percent or less of the hp.
-
There is a hidden in/out of combat timer on a player who has been engaged by the opposite faction. If someone hits someone down to 20 percent, leaves combat and comes back healed. If that player dies afterwards, the original person who did the initial 80 percent damage will get awarded the honor if he is still in range. This also applies to if a person is getting trained and getting healed. Who ever does the initial damage to the target that would have otherwise killed them would get the honor for it.
