Machine Speakers. An industrialized zone. Dwarfs with bionic eyes and back machines that have drill arms and Doc Oc arms. Titan constructs. Mech suits. Mobs lobbing dynamite.
A zone and a half into the expansion, I can’t help but think how perfectly a Tinker class would’ve fit into this expansion. Kind of a bummer, because it’s highly unlikely Blizz would surprise us with a class mid-expansion. If it’s not now, it’ll probably be never.
I should probably just give up hope, right?
Sidenote: the music in this xpac is my favorite since MoP.

As much as i hate the idea of tinkers you have a good point

I agree. I’m pretty jealous of Brinthe’s tech.
And yeah. I don’t normally comment on or even notice the music, but the ambience is outstanding this expansion. Loving it so far and looking forward to more.

Tinkers were always a better choice than the weird dragons.
-Exist in lore already (Artificers, etc) for nearly every race.
-Would have filled the niche of hybrid ranged physical dps with mail armor.
-Would’ve given us an alternative to hunter for above, providing another user for gun mogs and mail and more dev incentive to create more gun and mail mogs (Dragons really don’t count for mail)

Yep. Not to mention Goblin and Gnomes have Tinker leaders, and they were playable in WC3. I think Tinker is the only racial leader class not represented and might be the only WC3 class not represented.
Still seems really weird to me that half this game is steampunk and sci fi, yet there’s zero classes that represent that side of WoW.

Hell, even Dagran is inline with how tinkers are. As well getting close to and helping out the new High Speaker Earthen lady, might (reaching here, and I am sucking hard on that copium as well lol), plausibly indicate something in the future.
I’m hoping that Dagan and Ms. Speaker are indicators to a plausibility. As well, Wanting his Glasses + Pencil combo, and her Machine Pack. Cause worse case, I’ll fake it with my Rustoration / Weldemental Shaman lol.

still think its too close to engineering. Could be fun to scrap current professions though and turn them into combat classes though. I could totally see a smithy throwing their smithy hammer to stun people. or a tailor stitching up someone to heal them or any such thing. That said, i support the idea of Tinkerers still cause I like class fantasy we all have our fantasies. I personally would much rather be a true necromancer then this death knight. I’m sure eventually we will all get what we want maybe. It does kinda feel like they are wrapping things up though.
I was just questing with Magni and Dagran and thinking he looks like a Dwarven millenial hipster lol

Funny enough is there was a tinker mech in legion, likely they had some ideas.

At this point Evoker should have just been tinker, I dont even feel like a dragon class and a lot of the abilities 1 for 1 would work as Tinker abilties.
Hover - Jetpack
Eternity Surge - Missle Barrage
Deep breath - Napalm Strike
Pyre - Grenade
Firestorm - Aerial strike
Disenegrate - Ice Lazer
Fire breath - Propellant Blast
Landslide - Sticky glue
Augmenetation also fits really well with the Tinker coat of paint on top. just a shame fr… if they werent going to fully comit on a Dragon class, I dont understand why they made Evoker.

Don’t lose hope that easily guys. I think we’re due for a new hybrid class, given we only have three of them.
I’m also thinking Mechagnomes might get new stuff too….

It just feels hopeless… The best expansions for Tinker was BFA or The War Within but they’re definitely saving the next new class for midnight to give us another dumb elf class instead of something new.

BfA? No. There was too much nonsense in BfA.
It might be TWW, but maybe Midnight.
I actually thought after they introduced Mechagnomes that Tinker wouldn’t be far behind. Dracthyr and Evokers threw me for a loop.
I agree with the other guy that BFA seemed a good expansion for it too, with Mekkatorque being a big part of it and fighting a Goblin in their mech suits (I always forget the old Goblin leader’s name), then all the Gnome stuff. Though nowhere near as good a fit as TWW.

The problem that lasted for DECADES is the fact where nobody takes Gnomes or Mechagnomes seriously.
Like… hello guys! We survived a genocide! Hello…? Anybody…?
And that’s how it panned out. Which is also why Tinkers weren’t a thing.

This is because class designs and class aesthetics aren’t related at all.
You design gameplay.
You can make it look like anything you want after that.
You could take your post and do the exact same thing with almost any other spec.
People don’t really want a tinker class, because that could be literally anything. The term means nothing until it exists in WoW. They want a tinker aesthetic.
Which is fine, but that’s what it is.

Yeah, I’ll never understand why the devs seem to hate the little races. Would love to see a Gnome or Goblin fighting in hi-def cgi like the orc, human, pandaren in the MoP cinematic. Would look like a violent Spy vs Spy lmao

I can’t make Dracthyr Evoker abilities work for necromancer or death knight so this statement is inherently false.
Dracthyr are meant to be a dragon class but blizzard didn’t fully commit to it.
You three shall be the examples all dracthyr will follow.
Sarkareth, my devastator. You shall rend your foes with the powers of the red and blue dragonflights.
Viridia, my preserver. You shall heal our allies with the grace of green and bronze dragonflights.
And Emberthal, you will wield the essence of the black dragonflight to augment all those around you with my power
THE GREEN dragonflight was never meant to be “green magic heals” they’re supposed to be nature dragons with poison, leeching, sleeping mist, vines and etc.
It being reduced to that is so lazy.
If they wanted to create a class based on the 5 dragonflight magics this is how it should have been done.
Dracthyr Evoker should have 4 specs like druids, you have 5 flights the versatility of the different types of magic can cover all 4 roles in the game. Healer, Tank, Melee dps, ranged dps
Tank-Black
Healer-Bronze
Ranged DPS-Green and Blue
Melee DPS - Red and Blue
Obviously all specs should have all magic to an extent but that’s where they messed up in the first place

I’ve considered this idea before and it terrifies me.
The thought that Blizz could have put in dev time and scrapped it would be heart breaking. Especially considering what we got. I think playing an Evoker feels great, but the theme is just SO strong and not my thing.
Tinker/Artificer/X Tech class is such a natural fit to enter the WoW class roster, to dumpster for any reason would be bewildering.

would’nt tinkers have come around back in mechagon, rather than the dwarf-y expansion?
