Engineering is the Profession about making utility items.
Tinker would be about dealing direct damage to the Enemy, and using mechanical know-how to fight their enemies. With Rotational combat abilities focused on technology, Missiles, ETC.
And the Engineering profession could still get craftable utility items, just like they have been getting.
Gadgets are for engineering. Period. They provide utilities and stuff. Itâs cool. But it has nothing to do with tinker at all.
If you wanna fight enemies with Missles, rockets, and a Mech suit. You play Tinker.
If you Wanna build gadgets that give you an edge and utilities. You pick up the Engineering profession.
You could even do BOTH. Since one is 100% combat focused and the other one has utilities both inside and outside of combat.

Why add anything in then? Nothing seems to be new mechanically. Add in a dot class. Oh, affliction exists. Add in double jump. Oh wait, jump exists, you just do it twice now. Glide? Slow fall, except you can control what direction you go it. Greater pyroblast? Orange chaos bolt with a longer cast timer.

100% of your argument boils down to remixing existing mechanics. Tinkers would take things that would normally be reserved for engineers.
Thereâs also the alchemist from WC3 that could be directly baked into a tinker spec.
Most importantly, itâs the only fantasy archtype weâre missing. We have strong guys, dark classes, agility classes, magic, mystical and martial artists yet we donât have smart guys who build their own weaponry.
