Hello
with the launch of mecagon I hoped that blizz would launch the new TINKER class, it would be the perfect moment together with mecagnomes and vulperas, rumors within blizz stated that this class was being thought of.
What do you think of this ? in my opinion a new class is really missing
Tinkers are the perfect addition as a WoW class. All classes in WoW are based off of Hero Units from Warcraft 3. And the Goblin Tinker Hero unit is one of the only humanoid units left that isn’t represented at all in the Classes of World of Warcraft.
Without doing any mental gymnastics, or coming up with any new abilities. Tinkers would be able to DPS and Tank. No Original concepts needed.
With the Gelbin Mekkatorque boss battle, the Mechagon, and the Island expedition teams, I thought tinkers were the obvious next class. But here we are.
I hold out hope every day that one day we get my favorite fantasy from the WoW universe as a playable class.
I actually think it’s just the opposite personally.
Blizzard being lazy is a great reason for them to ADD tinkers.
Any other class would require a lot of work on their part. But most of the Assets for Tinker already exist, lots of Tinker NPC’s already exist. And the Tinker already has abilities from Warcraft 3 that could allow them to Tank or DPS.
Tinker class would be LAME. No blizz, I don’t wont a class based off of a profession. It was already a stretch to give a fantasy game electricity and machines, now a class? Nooo thank you. I want some class that is like from the Shadowlands… a spellcaster that uses the power of Anima and weaves together spells from each of the covenants. Like a DK (maldraxxus), Druid (Ardenweald), Priest/paladin (Bastion), and warlock/blood dk (revendreth) combined to make one epic class that fits the expac and is cool.
First off, you should know that 100% of my concepts are based off of Warcraft 3. I’m trying to do as little original work as possible in order to stay true to form.
First things First.
Tinkers back in WC3 Were the Only intellect stacking Melee Hero in the game. They could build Pocket Factories, stun with Missiles, apply passive upgrades to themselves with their engineering prowess and Call in a mech suit, that gave them extra HP and Armor.
So the Easiest idea is the Tank Spec.
Give them a mech suit, similar to a Druids bear form.
Make them tank with stacking armor, or energy shields, give them hard hitting AoE melee attacks with Shredder blades to keep agro, A taunt. ETC.
A second spec could be DPS. Focused on Missiles, grenades, ranged attacks, and Sentries.
The Pocket Factory from Warcraft 3 is essentially the RTS equivalent of a sentry gun. I can Imagine a system in which you use your ranged attacks and missiles to get Scrap from the enemy, then use that scrap to build Turrets for different uses. Rocket turrets for single target, Snowball cannons for slows. ETC.
Combine this with Intellect mail armor, and you have a have a second class who can use range weapons other than hunter, and another mail wearer.
3 spec minimum. 2 specs is going to lead to the same situation with DH where only one build is viable. Those other two sound good though and I like them. It could finally take wildfire bomb off survival and give us lacerate back since our spec is survival not grenadier.
Barding should be a proffesion if it’s ever in WoW. Not a full class. How would it even fight? Scratching nails on a chalkboard or instrument to hurt ears?
Engineers and Tinkers have been part of the Universe since BEFORE World of Warcraft. In the Earlier Warcraft RTS days. There were Flying Machines, Siege engines, goblin shredders, Clockwerk automatons.
So… You’re just Wrong. Technology has been part of the Warcraft Universe since its earliest days.
So you Want a class based on the New lore, that Blizzard will move on from after this expansion, instead of a Class that has existed in the Lore since PRE-WOW and has had significant characters and NPC’s the whole time?
Bards are not part of the Warcraft Universe…
Music isn’t tied to Magic in the Warcraft Universe…
Bards have never been established in the Warcraft Lore…
in the archives of the wow many clues have already been found about the tinker such as the follower Kelsey Steelspark

I see the second spec being more like Torbjorn in Overwatch. Guy running around making turrets to fire different things at enemies.
Tanking spec is obvious, mech suit like Mekkatorque.
Third spec would be a healing spec! It could have healing sprays, bandage guns, nano bots… the devs could figure it out but there are plenty of ways to make it work.
And it should absolutely be a Mail wearing INT using class.
They’re making the lore up as they go at this point anyway, and we’ve only explored like… half of Azeroth’s surface. Why can’t we discover a new continent where they’ve discovered the power of music?
Ok… stating my opinion is now hilarious? Got it. Ok everybody, be sure not to state what you think at all about the topic unless you are agreeing with the OP.
“They’re making up new lore” Isn’t a solid argument.
Every single class in this game is STRICTLY Based off of Warcraft 3. No exceptions.
In the Warcraft universe there is no “Power” in music.
Arcane Energy, what most people describe as “Magic” is closer to Science. It’s left behind energy from the Titan constructs in the Planet, and the Leylines that connect them.
or in laymans terms “Magic” comes from the Titans. and the Titans are all about Logic and Order.
Someone’s mad that I had perfectly reasonable argument’s as to why Tinkers fit into the Warcraft universe.
And you saying “They’re lame” doesn’t change objective facts.
They were a Hero Unit in Warcraft 3. The basis for all of WoW’s classes
