Timezones on realm select screen

Anybody know why there’s never been any indication of what timezone/datacenter realms belong to in the realm select or character select screens?

Seems like a massive oversight with how big of a role that plays in finding players and guilds that fit into one’s schedule, and a lot of people aren’t going to think to pull up Wowpedia or whatever to check.

Hello, I see you posted a thread about timezones. As far as I know, the servers aren’t based on timezones anymore! In fact, and someone can correct me if I’m wrong, many servers that used to be in different timezones are now just located in a central location such as Chicago!

Thanks for your post and have a great day!

Yeah, I think there’s just the CA and Chicago ones in the states now.

They’re not all in Chicago, that’s for sure. My latency for Bleeding Hollow, an EST server, is considerably higher than it is on Bronzebeard, a PST realm which is much closer to me physically. They still use different datacenters.

They used to be. A while back, a lot of servers got merged, and now the timezones are different now.

Best bet is to just set the clock to use local time, but don’t tell anyone you make plans with what timezone you’re in.

Hello, I see you replied to my post. That’s true, which is why I never said all servers were located in one specific location!

Thanks for your post and have a great day!

Realm linkages would probably also be a good thing to display on the select screen.

Really the realm select screen needs a from-scratch redesign. The 2004 design is showing its age.

I’m pretty sure Diablo Immortal does something kind of similar: the servers show your latency, so you can pick the best option based on your location.

Would love to see something similar added that also shows the server time zone as well.

If you hover with your mouse over clock just below radar, It will tell you the time of server

It’s on the realm status page.

But I agree it should be in-game too.

You spelled Texas wrong.

That’s implying you’ve made the character already. They want more forward knowledge.

But then again time zones really don’t matter because all resets are synchronized to pacific time. And people have congregated themselves to play on no more than 15 highly populated servers.

They moved it from Texas awhile ago unless wowpedia is wrong - which is possible. But I think it said it was moved in 2010.

Edit: here’s the link for the data center info:

Yeah, but you don’t really play with other people in Diablo Immortal like you do in WoW.
