Timewalking Extremely Hard?

Is it just me or is timewalking extremely hard this week? Was doing random dungeons till i hit 81 then tried out timewalking and holy crap things hit hard. It took my group 45 mins to finish halls of lightning and that was counting 2 wipes on loken.

Yes, Timewalking was buffed recently in order to accomodate for BFA powers like Essences and all that jazz.

I’ve encountered a lot of players who don’t know the content… some who don’t respect it. For those of us who lived in those dungeons when they were current, it makes the present wraith time walking a bit frustrating at times.

Loken is easy. Stand by his feet until he casts nova, run away, run back, or heal through it. It’s probably the easiest boss in all of the current Timewalking dungeons.

He does more then the AoE, he had another long ranged spell attack that kept 1 shotting our healer.

The nexus bosses would like to have a word.

It’s definitely tougher, but I thought that was more attributed to how the game handles level scaling. With the experience buff in play now, I see a much higher number of sub-100 players in there. Some encounters are faceroll, some others not so much, it really seems to depend on the group.

this is what happens when people get used to ignoring mechanics.

why was the healer standing at range?

The dungeons during LK had some very strict mechanics that didn’t give too much wiggle room for a simple zerg style timed run that I’ve found as the norm recently.

CC, Interrupts, add control and aggro control to name a few. Lol

Also, if you’re fresh off the bus at 81 timewalking is probably going to be hard as f; it’s nominally heroic tier dungeons and is heavily overtuned in terms of how much damage the bosses can absorb relative to what they were like back in the day.

They are a few mobs that seem to be hitting like trucks in each dungeon but overall I’d say its been very smooth. However, i’ve only gotten the same few dungeons (HoL / Gundrak / Pinnacle / Old Kingdom) which i personally find very easy.

The real killer is Pit of Sauron. The mechanics for the first 2 bosses, and some of the trash, have to be followed. If you mongo those, youre gonna have a bad time. I actually also think the trash in this dungeon is a bit overtuned, especially leading into the tunnel after the 2nd boss

yeah i saw towelliee stream earlier where he got tired of pugging it slowly so he grabbed 5 120 corrupted toons to help him to it lol.

I noticed bad guys feel like damage sponges. I guess this is why. They buff this stuff for essences etc yet its scaled content that is supposed to be for players of all playstyles from casual to elite. I mean come on this stuff wasn’t even hard when it was current content why does it have to be hard now. Well ok hard isn’t probably the proper word as its not hard but its annoying.

I saw a lot more rooting and stunning than previously. Otherwise, some were barely changed, and others changed a lot.

I will take ranged silence for 200, Alex.

Loken’s AoE hurts more the further you run (if I read the journal correctly).

If you have a tank or healer that is either under 120 or a fresh 120 it’s going to be a bit rough.
I did 6 runs on a new Pally, 1 to get 120 and 5 after. I stuck to DPS and focused on just interrupting and stunning things to help runs go smoothly.
Only run that was a bit rough was Pit of Saron with the 2 skeleton warrior/mage packs and the tunnel run. Partly because the tank was 119(they dinged at the end) and partly because that trash is like a mini-boss. But the other DPS were helping with interrupts and CC and the healer was pretty on point so we got through fast.

TW is just wildly varied by group level and composition, so it’s a roll of the dice every run!
Doing it with a DPS Paladin I found helped a ton with all the undead + Wake of Ashes.

If you don’t have at least 2 players doing mechanics some of those dungeons will get real messy real fast.

Really, the only point where I was getting angry with the time walk content this time around was when I was in Pit of saron with 4 Ragnaros players who were just determined to lick every window and show off just how many chromosomes they were missing.

They actually booted me because I was the only one that knew about the hill rush strat. Nevermind the fact that the healer was wearing balance azerite gear.

this week feels harder then normal because it seems blizz might have done a silent nerf on 8.3 gear after what happened with the BC TW week when you could wreck the raid boss’s without any effort. Though i think they went to far and as usual affected more then what they intended to.

I keep my own list of TW scaling changes and there are some things that have never been this challenging before in TW like Razorgore. Never seen the Vyrkul add do that much damage with it’s whirlwind before.

Halls were always bad, but yes the baddies are…badder. That and every group I was in was “gearing up”.

4 hours of play and guess what my reward was: a cloak. You heard me right, a cloak.

Never do that in a PUG, it only leads to wipes and frustration!

You can’t get a cloak from the cache? It’s only loot from the current raid.
