Why would i want to be able to do everything at once when each week i could have something new and exciting to look forward too each week?
And why would anyone else possibly think differently to you?
I think some timegating is necessary.
But Visions, the belt, this new calendar event all are coming at the same time. Two of them are gated talent systems. Which some people have always hated. The other is a new world calendar event that they didnāt even tell anyone was a world calendar event, with lackluster rewards, so the timegating of that really sticks out.
Ironically, they actually did well with the Flameās Radiance stuff. Because you could continually run it for Warbound gear and rep, plus had the dailies.
But then we get all of this⦠and it was bound to go poorly.
You can always add waiting period for yourself and have something to look forward to, if you want. I donāt binge TV shows on Netflix even though I could for that exact reason. However it requires self-control.
They can pretend timegating is for some reason like that, it gives you something to look forward to, or it keeps players from falling behind, or whatever. The obvious reason, because this game is made by a business, is that timegating keeps people subscribed for longer.
The type of time-gating theyāve been doing this patch isnāt really giving me anything to look forward to other than when Iāll actually be able to do the content once itās fully doled out weeks after release.
With the Dastardly Duos event for example, I did one run and maxed out on it. I canāt just keep playing and progressing at it, just played it one time for less than 10 minutes and thatās all it has to offer until at least next week.
Doling out content in 10-30 minute slices every week most definitely does NOT make me look forward to future content releases.
Cause people donāt like to be strung along.
I can sometimes see where it can be good vs where itās bad.
Crests for example kinda give a āstart of seasonā flex if you can do 10s at 640/650 then you can enjoy that gear early. Kinda of like a fun skill check for people into that.
For HV and DD I donāt really feel the same.
Iād rather the content that will be made available during 11.1.7 be the content added for 11.1.7 instead of timegating dastardly duos several weeks deep into the new patch.
I get timegating to a degree. Timegating content releases that have further weekly timegating? Nah.
Bob hates timegating.
Bob has a career or other obligations that take up a lot of his time.
Bob rarely gets a day to himself and enjoy playing.
New content comes out on the day Bob finally gets that day.
Bob is screwed because he does the available content in 30 minutes- 1 hour because of time gating.
Let Bob do the content he rarely gets the chance to enjoy.
I wish Expedition 33 only let me play Act 1 for a month before I could delve into the rest of the game
This. The ācontentā is an inch deep.
Itās one thing when the timegated content actually changes and evolves from week to week, and another when itās just there to make an hour of content last for a month.
