Timeframe for regular flying in DF?

I know, I know. You love Dragon Riding. Cool! It is super fast and efficient for getting around places quickly. Please continue to enjoy it.

But for me to enjoy these zones to the fullest, I need regular flying. 330% speed is plenty fast enough for me, thank you. Omnidirectional 3D movement is essential for my exploration and view enjoyment activities.

So is there a timeframe on the introduction of regular flying to the Dragon Isles? Something more concrete than that they said they’d be putting it in? Not sure keeping my sub active for 6 months will be worth it while waiting for regular flying.

The Plains and the Span are calling me to explore them in-depth, but big clusters of mobs on the ground and the attention you have to pay while Dragon Riding make it less fun. Not looking to take DR away from anyone, nor hamper it in any way.

The drakes aren’t capable of omnidirectional 3D movement?
Anyway, there has been zero information about when regular flying would be enabled. Everything is player-driven estimates, roughly aligning with how long into past expansions it’s taken to get “pathfinder.”

No they are not. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing when you are trying to get somewhere in a hurry, don’t need to be able to move up or down or backwards at will too much when heading to a point.

That is… unfortunate. A concrete timeframe would allow me to plan my sub time more accurately. It will also be when I start leveling alts. Ah well. Thank you for the response.

Yes, they are. It just doesnt mean what you want it to mean.

Yes they are. You just can’t sit stationary in one place and afk in the sky.

This is such a strange stance… 3D omnidirectional means being able to move in any direction in a 3 dimensional environment. Drakes can’t fly backwards. Or straight down or straight up freely. Or left or right strafing. Why is this something you are defending?

I thought I made it quite clear that I don’t want to take Dragon Riding from anyone. Is it that you are confused as to what omnidirectional means?

There scared to actually release the date just like other times when it comes to flying they ain’t dumb they know a lot of people will unsub when they give a ridiculous date. Release regular flying now blizz it’s time should of been released when dragonriding was

Probably looking at patch 10.2 if prior expansions are anything to go off of. Very rough timeframe guess is between 8 to 12 months from now.

That might come sooner because of the new team they hired on. They did mention they’re going to try to have faster patch cadence this expansion (per an interview with Ion), but we’ll have to wait and see if that happens.

That is… most unfortunate. My sub runs out in 13 days and I think there is little reason to re up it. Good information and estimates, thank you.

It very well could be sooner, don’t take my word for it. It’s only a guess based on prior expansions.

Thank you for that. However, I have very little hope that they’d enable regular flying within the next two months, which is what would have helped keep me around.

I have a very bad/good habit of skipping expansions middle bits. I tend to jump in the beginning to see what’s what, and then skip the inevitable grinds in the middle. I then come back towards the end of the expansion with catch up mechanics and everything I like(like flying) enabled and go to town.

It is how I am able to enjoy WoW typically.

Really, it’s unknown. And it’s also pretty unlikely Blizzard will tell people because if they give a date, they know many will unsub until that date. Some people will unsub anyway without knowing a date, like you, but many more would do it if they knew that they could come back in 6 months and have instant helicopter flight. So I don’t think we’ll know for a while.

My own personal guess, for what it’s worth, is that it will be 10.2, but it could be 10.1 – who knows?

I’ve had to unsub since my vertigo makes dragonriding into a vomit comet (sub actually ran out 3 days ago but the forum software doesn’t check subscription status til tuesday if you don’t open the battle.net client again Fun trick for others :P)

It stinks that blizzard is making decisions that actually exclude the disabled because they don’t want to give people options in this game, even if they need that option to even play.

8 months from now is my guess when they’ll finally welcome disabled people to play, as others have said though, just a guess since Ion hates regular flying and will do anything to timegate it out, including yet another vindictive pathfinder achieve.

Except the normal Pathfinder nonsense for normal fight. You should know the drill by now. Loremaster and rep grinds, chop chop.

Omnidirectional 3D movement is literally what dragon riding provides. It sounds like you just want to be able to AFK in mid air anytime you want and to be lazy with flying by picking a direction and hitting auto run while afking. I don’t blame you as we’ve had that for over a decade now. So ¯_(ツ)_/¯

A year if lucky.

Did you enable both options for DR that assist with motion sickness? using both makes DR look pretty much like regular mount based flight outside of the blue glow and a tiny swirly pattern on the center of the mount

I feel for people with this issue. Blizzard definitely owes it to their customers to fix this.

You cannot move omnidirectionally on a dragonriding mount. Not even close.
