As long as m+ dungeons are based around timers, then meta tables will matter. Because the entire system is designed around optimization. Even at lower keys folks will still want the meta specs because they offer ideally the most optimal solution, even if at the individual level meta spec player x might be not quite as good as non meta spec player y.
In a pug if the two players look equally successful then the Meta will ALWAYS be selected first. This is why timers are a bad way to set up the success of something. It’s just the “easiest” development method of creating tiers at the volume people want.
What exactly would change if timers were gone like i think you’re suggesting? People would still know they’re playing a worse team comp and are going to have a harder time regardless.
Yes. I’m very efficient… 20 minutes mingling. Fifteen minutes eating. Twenty minutes drinking. Five minutes dancing like an inflatable tube guy in a car lot.
That’s called power creep and it will solve nothing. It is just the nature of having classes with (mostly) different toolkits. Just like, with all the talents in the talent trees to choose from, there will always be a “best” build everyone will gravitate towards.
The only reason the timer comes into play is thats how you get new levels. But if you just had to finish to get levels, there would just be a player imposed timer.
