Arcane DPS has been dead since Gnomer. Its been ignored on every Tier set. Can we please get any kind of a buff now please.
Arcane is not a DPS spec in SoD. Buffing it’s damage will directly buff healing.
It’s like priests complaining holy DPS is weak.
“Arcane is not a DPS spec”
Wrong.
Arcane is a healing spec in SoD.
You could easily change a rune to buff damage if regen/mass regen isn’t engraved. It doesn’t have to buff healing.
“Easily” says the armchair developer.
Well it is. Buffs when?
You could easily add runes to buff dps. You put them on the same slots that the healing ones occupy and add some modifiers to negate healing when they are equipped.
This is an easy one because if the spec exists because of runes….
You would probably need some tier additions as well.
have you seen where Arms is on the dps charts?
to be fair, arcane IS the healing tree in SoD. Arms is the obsolete tree with no purpose. Devs even said so themselves.
how to make any unrelated thread all about Arms warrior - written by Abralan. Anyone read that book?
Anyways, would be awesome to see damage buffs on missiles and barrage - negated if you equip mass regen or regen
Why? Arcane is not a DPS spec, it is a healing spec and healing it kind of tuned around arcane damage. If anything frost and fire needs some buffs not arcane.
In earlier phases arcane was the dps spec. So yes, it can heal, but it can also dps.
Kind of like holy paladins can heal, or dps.
It’s only “not a dps spec” because of a lack of continued support for it. If, say, the buff from arcane blast buffed future arcane blasts, you could take AQ40 2-piece to buff damage. You could even equip it with the scarlet set, and use your shoulder runes for something else, like the netherwind set to get more missile barrage procs. Then you get six piece Scarlet for arcane tunneling and more arcane powers.
It is at this point that you add runes that conflict with healing ones. Chronostatic preservation already conflicts with spell power, so if you want full dps you can’t heal that way. Mass Regen already conflicts with icy veins, so if you want max dps you can’t heal that way. And Regen conflicts with burnout and enlightenment. So I would say buff enlightenment. A lot, like 50% or more. But maybe make it like spell crits, or what they did with spellfrost bolt: it doesn’t buff the healing caused by the damage, just the damage itself.
And the dps loop would be spamming arcane blasts looking for arcane tunneling procs to hit missiles with barrage, all while dropping your stacks when you’re in danger of dipping below 70% mana.
It would require very little testing to adjust the exact number for the enlightenment buff, and you don’t need to insert any “but your healing is completely disabled” code, as dropping any of those runes to pick up a healing rune makes you an incompetent dps, and an incompetent healer.
So, yes, it’s very easy. And I would even go so far as to add a head rune for arcane dps. Or change Temporal Anomaly to be a dps cooldown spell. Or make living flame START at your target, and do a little more damage, so you could put a 4-stack arcane blast empowered living flame into the rotation. There are lots of little things you could do.
You mean phase 1?
No, it is below tank DPS and has been for almost the entire game. On the other hand it is one of the top healer specs.
Six weeks into the last phase of a seasonal server they should add new runes?
Do lots of programing and testing? Mages have two DPS specs and one of them already needs help, so why would Blizzard waste their time making the healing spec do better damage?
We get it, you main a Frost Mage and you aren’t doing damage in your raid and are now sad because of it. Make a post about what changes you want to see implemented for your specc instead of bashing others ideas for their wanted buffs. It’s not a win/lose situation. grow up, Sir
No I main an arcane healer mage. The idea of completely reworking arcane into a 3rd dps spec with new runes 6 weeks into the last phase of SoD is just such a strange request when mages have 2 dps specs and one needs help.
To be fair, he once coded a hello world program using css.
I came into SoD’s second week in phase 1 wanting to play arcane spec, didn’t know they would turn it into a healing spec.
But honestly i’m fine with that, it was very fun to play for most of SoD but the latest changes for phase 8 were terrible. Not as bad as they could’ve been, but now the way to optimize the spec is a crazy plate spinning act of keeping as many beacons up (always has been, but with twice faster cooldown on mass regen it was far less annoying) while trying to have some sort of active DPS rotation while also keeping track of 2-3 chance-based procs while managing arcane blast stacks.
It’s literally this ht tps://tenor.com/view/spinning-plates-gif-13275991 but with a proc-based DPS rotation weaved in.
IT’S NOT FUN.
Beacons being infinite in the amount you can apply with no penality was always broken and should’ve been reworked over a year ago.
I 100% agree. Now I have to be a god tier button spammer to compete with a chain heal spamming shaman.
What i find the most annoying out of everything with mage healing is players out of range from your mass regen and especially when everyone in that group is so far from each other that mass regen applies 1-2 beacons to that group. That’s gg for your healing right there.
Also, I feel like mage healing should really be a middle point in damage and healing output between healer and dps specs. A true hybrid in the real sense of the term.
Take the dps output from dps classes, half that, and take the healing output from healers and half that.
I’d much rather have lower, but more reactive and controllable healing output than whatever playstyle we got.
