No they weren’t, they were just as much of a mess as they are now… Dampening was just as needed back then in arenas as it is now. The mere fact that it needs to exist at all says there’s a major problem, that problem being healers are very clearly overtuned.
Haven’t had as many close Bgs in any expansion as I did in Legion. Now I know you’re reaching if you actually call legion Bgs a mess. Dampening is needed in arena due to equal skill players facing each other. You don’t get that in Bgs or wpvp. Anyway I’m off to bed. Luckily, they will never balance 1v1.

We would be far better off if they did. At the very least they should instead balance around BGs since that is where the overwhelming majority of PvP takes place… Arena players are a minority, PvP balance should not focus on the minority.
1v1 is the most balanced it has ever been by a lot. It’s actually not that bad now. But consequently pvp is also debatebly one of the worst it has been due to homogenization of classes which is what 1v1 balance requires. How do you balance a warrior vs a mage duel? After answering that question then answer how that effects warrior or a mage vs a lock?
Theres no shame in a game not being balanced around 1v1 lots of competetive games do not. League is based around 5v5 and if you suggested it should be balanced around 1v1 people would assume you were just trolling.

Do tell! Just because you say so? I know my class was below 5% representation in all categories during that period. Your opinion on what constitutes balance obviously differs from mine.
Just to throw 2 cents onto this mess.
1v1 balance sounds nice but I’m not sure its really that desirable. It would seem like it could only be achieved at the expense of interesting class uniqueness.
There should be more of a “rock-paper-scissors balance” where certain classes/specs, because of their innate uniqueness, will have advantages over other classes. It shouldn’t result in a lopsided advantage but a slight advantage.
For example,
Rogue > Mage
Mage > Warrior
Warrior > Rogue
etc…
Every class/spec should be competitive but not dominant, in specific situations but not all the time.
And how do is that? I said I don’t do a lot of rated PvP and I am not the calling for massive PvP changes?
