Time-sensitive topic

Quinton Flynn (ORIGINAL VA for Kael’thas Sunstrider) is here at a local con. He’s done a lot of roles over the years but TBH it’s Kael’thas that’s the most familiar to me. I’d love to ask him for a signed photo with “VENGEANCE BURNS!” , but I worry that either 1. He may not even be allowed to sell/sign any WoW photos and 2. I come off looking like a dumbass fanboy by even bringing up what might be a sensitive topic to him (seeing how Blizzard totally unpersoned him by recasting his voice tracks).

Should I approach or avoid?

He’s there probably getting paid to sign autographs. Give him your $20 to $60 and tell him to sign whatever you want. You aren’t hurting anyones feelings, and if it did the he shouldn’t show up signing autographs in the first place.

Ask him if Tempest Keep was merely a setback. If he looks at you funny, walk away. If he smiles, than get his autograph and a picture.

Personally – If I were him, I’d be excited to vent about it to someone else — Especially they were a fan.

That’s just my take though
You’d probably feel regretful you didn’t take the opportunity when you had the chance though, so I’d say go for it tbh.

Do it. All you are doing is giving him a chance to say yes. If you don’t, you said no for him. Bet he says yes.

Approach

The allegations against him were proven false. Blizzard staff at the time jumped the gun and reacted before he was proven innocent or guilty for PR reasons

He will always be the real Kael’thas

I just hope he has some Kaelthas photos at his table (I had been avoiding going to close to the table out of fear I might get “roped in” and have to pick a photo of a role I was unfamiliar with) or if he’s allowed to sell any photos related to WoW ( I remember when David Prowse got blacklisted By Lucasfilm so he could no longer sign any Darth Vader merch anymore). The con has already got it’s “Fanboy From Hell” incident this year (some creeper wearing a Minnie Mouse outfit from Temu was going around following young girls & approaching kids so he got booted).

I don’t know to be honest… he was done dirty but blizzard is in a bad spot. Admitting they messed up badly and took the side of a false accuser is terrible PR. Plus the contract they signed for the new guy was likely already paid.

I would ask. Worse he can do is say no… also you pay for signatures? I always thought it was free.

Yes. Sigs these days do cost money. William Shatner is notorious for charging literally hundreds if not thousands for his autograph. Thankfully every other con guest of honor is less egotistical and charge much less (average 40-60 USD). I hope Quenton accepts credit cards (most dealers do, but this might be the first one I use my CC for getting a signed photo).

Was it actually that definitive? Or did it just fizzle out?

In any case, his Kael’thas is still the real Kael’thas. The replacement didn’t even try to bring the same passion. His death speach in the original magisters terrace was fantastic.

Lead with what a big fan you are and how much his performance as Kael’thas resonated with you. It’s not about Blizzard, it’s about your connection to him and his work.

Provided Quinton’s not a jerk, anyway; I know nothing about the guy.

But 25 years ago, I got Gary Gygax to sign and personalize a 3rd Edition D&D Player’s Handbook because it was all I had on me at the time, and he could definitely be prickly.

Just be genuine and show gratitude.
