The temporal essence count gathered by players during each Time Rift event is resetting back to 0 about a minute in to the event, making an already-tight group effort even tighter than it should be. I’ve witnessed this in every Time Rift that I’ve joined from the start so far.
EDIT: This reliably occurs at 7:45 left on the first stage timer.
This really needs a fix. We are losing between 300-800 essence depending on how quickly participating players complete their first 1-2 tasks and it has been the difference in a box threshold on more than one occasion.
Confirmed exactly at 7:45 we went from 600 to 0

This is a limited time event and Blizzard needs to absolutely fix this. We can’t finish this properly.
This isn’t a limited time event it’s permanent but yes it’s resetting is still annoying
Bug with time rifts, they are resetting and getting stuck on a task. Zero loot drops
While these are bugs that have been observed elsewhere, they aren’t related to this thread necessarily. The time rift still proceeds normally, completes, and awards currency properly upon completion despite the 7:45 essence reset occurring each time.
I did the rift, was unable able to continue to help as I was tuck on a task, got to the last boss and was not awarded loot of any kind upon the kill, and the rift never competed and awarded any of the “boxes” for filling up the bar.
I mean, that’s fine, but that isn’t the point of this thread. It makes Blizzard’s job harder if you try to report other unrelated bugs in the middle of existing threads. Feel free to make one of your own or post to any of the existing ones about the no loot issue.
I would hope that they read the forum as whole and see the rifts are dorked in more ways than one.
Yeah saw that yesterday and this morning when doing a rift.
Thought I was just imagining it but then I actually saw it go from 250 down to zero when moving to the next event in the zone.
same here, pretty sure the counter’s gotten reset in every single one i’ve done so far. just want full boxes for loot…
I have yet to see any loot out of the essence boxes; they seem intended to just award bonus progression towards buying cosmetics (or one of the trinkets if you’re dying for it on a character). That being said, I probably could have afforded the last mount by now with all the 150s of the currency I’ve missed from the epic box.
It looks like this might be fixed, just had a time rift get past the 7:45 mark without resetting essence count.
Nope just did a time rift a half hour ago and saw the counter reset early on in the event.
Was at 175 essence and then it reset to 0 and started counting again.
No those boxes don’t seem to have loot drops like pets, gear, mounts, cosmetics. Just some currency and rep.
It might be a fix that has to roll out to all servers. The shard I was in when I made that post did not see a reset, which is the first time I haven’t seen it reset.
Been having this issue as well with the rifts, and it is still happening.
