So after a few tickets spent revolving around the same issue, I decided to just go ahead and put something onto the forums since that’s where I keep being pushed to go to regardless.
A couple of days ago now I had my first attempt at the new Time Rifts that were introduced to the game, and though it was extremely laggy I was able to complete my first Time Rift and gain the reward which was a pretty decent upgrade to the gear I had at the time (since I have spent some time now away from the game completely).
The problem comes in with my second attempt at a Time Rift, and while using the new item that guarantees a reward at the end of the Rift. The encapsulated destiny.
I understand that coming with a new patch, especially on a high populated server like Illidan, there is going to be a lot of players whenever there is something new added to the end game of WoW. However, the overall area for the Time Rifts is extremely laggy, even to the point that someone with a better computer and internet, like myself, can not properly load the new instance. When I had first entered the portal for the end part of the rift the entire time I was there I was unable to see almost all of the other players, the boss, or the mechanics that it casted. My entire time in this instance it was spent attempting to load in everything since there was a high volume of players; and since I was unable to see other players movement or see the boss, this led to me dying probably to a mechanic. I assume at least.
From what I was told via ticket, the encapsulated destiny is designed to be removed if a player was to die while it was active, which in this case seems extremely odd to me.
I would completely understand if this item were to work like this giving the setting would be an area/instance that would not have a high level of traffic, but for something like this it seems a bit silly to have that be how this works when a player can not do anything to prevent themselves from losing the buff/dying. There was no way to avoid what ever happened to my character, and I lost the buff from something that I could not control. I feel that an item like this should have a time limit, like a flask. Something that does not get lost to dying while in instance and allows you to still gain something if you’re in a situation like this one. That, I believe, makes more sense in this case.
The only other alternatives I see are these: Either find someway to increase your internet output or pay for an even better computer (which is very ‘shame on you for not having the best of the best software’) or wait until all other players are done and bored with whatever it is new so you can do it finally yourself with little to no issue. Both of which seem extremely unreasonable approaches to this situation.
I feel that this was created very poorly, it’s not much for the fact I wasn’t able to get the reward, but more for the fact I was unable to actually enjoy this new aspect to the game due to no control over the amount of players that would be in this area. Not only is that dissatisfying, but the feedback as well that I received from game masters in these prior tickets seems near robotic and repetitive and feels that they aren’t even pushing to help look to solve the situation.
I feel my question is why this wasn’t looked into more and made to have instances to limit the amount of players that were in the area, or make it to where it was a scenario or something else that would also limit the traffic? Why should players have to be put in a position that they can not progress due to the way the game is functioning and preventing them from continuing on? I just want WoW to be a place that people can put what limited time they have into and enjoy that time, and not have to worry about the stress of falling behind or not being able to enjoy new content with other players because there is too high levels of player volume that prevent them from doing so.
Apologies for the long reading on everything, I begin to doubt that this will even be seen at all either and have legitimate response; but hey opening a ticket and trying to reach out that way doesn’t do much anymore so might as well try here.
