You can tune numbers all you want, but RSS is a casual-first game mode. Tuning numbers won’t change core mechanics. As long as classes/specs like DH, demo, unholy dk, and fury warrior exists, playing a (healing) caster will never be an enjoyable experience.
They should look at the glaring MMR issues for healing roles before anything else imo
That’s caused by queue volume goofball. Why else would it be matching healers that are 1,000 mmr apart.
You can make it more enjoyable for healers by giving them more hegemony over the match via general buffs. The match is balanced for ally peeling that doesn’t exist in SoloShuff so artificially increasing tankyness is an easy way to counter act that.
There’s already a good handful of threads created with solid speculations as to why it’s more than just the “queue volume” or whatever rubbish jargon you want to use. Feel free to go look for them.
Edit: personally, if i go 5-1 or 6-0 in a role and either lose rating or gain no rating, I’m never queing in that role again.
Yeah no idk about that one, making blanket tuning changes just for the sake of certain brackets of the playerbase being bad at certain skillsets sounds like really bad game design. For obvious reasons.
Edit: have we already forgotten the shadowlands trinkets designed to help casters? I don’t think that one really stupid interrupt-protection trinket even made it through the whole season.
I’m not queuing solo shuffle mostly because of dampening and healer balance personally. There’s no way anyone can have fun playing a healer having high dampening out of the gate with half the healer specs going oom pretty quickly. Both of those need a hard look at from the devs.
You could have it diminish over rating, but that’s redundant, because solo shuffle is still going to be more offense favored at higher ratings than 3v3 because you can’t coordinate peeling, so blind healing buffs will bring the meta closer to 3v3.
Healing is not as fun for MOST players. Its a niche group of competitive players in most games that enjoy healing gameplay. Plus in RSS healing just “feels” bad. meaning, you can spam heals on some classes and never top your team even with ccing the enemy dps.
The dampening change is needed, but you have to understand how it feels when you are playing your heart out and you are simply not allowed by game design to be effective.
simply put, healing in this game and most others, is simply not as much fun as doing big numbers and eliminating a player. Whats more fun, massive heal plays that your teammates dont take advantage of, or popping a swifty one shot macro and deleted a player.
If goofball is considered vitriolic then you don’t lurk very hostile forums. Your thesis is correct: Ad hominem just adds useless words to any statement, but goofball is so passive I don’t even consider it disrespectful. In fact, I use it to stop myself from becoming more toxic passively.
