Time Commitment for WoW

I am a casual game who likes group activity and party finders. I like just playing 1 hour here, 1 hour there for maybe 2-4 hours per week.

I am new to WoW and thinking of getting the game as I already have a subscription. Would I still be able to be able to make much progress in the game and join group activity like dungeons and raids at that level. How often would I be able to join dungeons and raids?

Yes, you can easily enjoy WoW and get things done with only a few hours here and there as long as you’re not aiming to be a mythic raider or very high key level pusher.

For raids etc…just look for a recruiting guild in chat or on the forums/discords etc…that matches your schedule as there are many guilds who raid at different times of the week.

Thank-you. Is there a party finder in the game where I could join dungeon or a raid at anytime? How long in the game do I have to wait until I can join group dungeons and raids? Thankyou for your encouragement as the game looks good but some told me it is a large time commitment.

Yes, the game has very casual levels of both dungeons and raids you can easily queue into in the group finder, with the click of a button you can queue up and enjoy it you just need to meet the minimum ilevel requirements which it will show you when you hover over them in group finder.

Note that these are not really accurate example of what it’s like to raid as LFR(looking for raid) level content is very simple to make it possible for group finder groups to complete it so once you dip your toes into this content and if you find yourself enjoying the game I highly suggest finding a guild raiding normal raids which is a much better experience in my opinion.

It depends on what level you want to play the game at.

You can absolutely level up, queue for heroics, run LFR, do delves. You could even pug Normal raid.

But at 2-4 hours a week you’re probably not going to do more advanced end game content like higher M+ keys, heroic raiding or competitive PvP.

In the past WoW was a much longer time commitment then it is now. Leveling to 60 in classic takes like 300-400 hours if you know what you’re doing. Casual gamers used to take months to hit max level.

Today, you can level a character to max in a day if you’re a loser like me.

With that time commitment you could make progress. Delves are a soloable way to gear up that are designed to be time efficient. Once geared you could then spend more time on group content.

You couldn’t do the highest levels of difficulty but that’s okay. Most players don’t due to the time requirements. If you worked with a guild or a discord community like GFGpug and put your mind to it, you could eventually clear the heroic raid and hit some of the more accessible m+ goals.

Not really, nothing worth doing in the game can be done for an hour at a time. Maybe two hours minimum.

People will talk about random stuff like Delves and questing - both of which are really mind numbing pointless filler content. They released delves as if it were something amazing, its really just a boring solo dungeon.

Prepping for raid alone, and queuing for LFR, by default will set you back 30 minutes probably.

Thank-you all for your kindness and commitment to a new casual player. Based on the positive feedback and helpful community here I am going to buy the game as I already have the sub. I am a bit lost about which game to start with? I am interested mainly in multiplayer stuff like dungeons and raids and a casual experience. I am trying to find the game on the website but just see expansions so nto sure even where to look to buy the game.

I play about 5-10 hours a week, and i’m able to progress through Heroic raids and highest reward levels of dungeoneering.

So all of the expansions are free except the current one.

Currently The War Within is the only expansion you have to buy.

The game basically will encourage you to level 10-70 in Dragonflight zones before sending you to The War Within zones for 70-80. You can level up in which ever expansion packs zones you choose to. But as a new player this is probably just going to be more confusing than interesting. It’s probably just best to stick with the Dragonflight path.

Once you’re level 10 you can use the dungeon finder to queue for dungeons whenever you want.

Congratulations newcomer!

You have just taken your first steps into a much larger world…

Realistically playing a few hours a week regularly you’ll be farther ahead than the people who burn themselves out on the first patch or two and then don’t come back for a long time. (Why do I do this to myself)

Thank-you!
