Time Between Phases

So we know there will be 6 phases, but I can’t find any source telling time between phases.
Phase one starts in late August. When will phase two be? Mid September-ish or more like Jan 2020? When will phases 6 start? In a few months or in years?
I’ve heard speculation on how they’ll space it out like the patches in vanilla but anyone have more concrete ideas?

I don’t think they’ve released time between phases yet. All speculation at this point.

I would imagine much more like march of 2020 but anything at all is just a guess.

I’m hoping 3-4 months to give the game a 2 year initial run.

I’m gonna put my faith in Blizzard and believe they will make Classic as perfect as possible.

Last thing I want them to do is rush the content. Only to see in 12 months time people QQing that there’s no content.

Blizz said there are no set timers. They will decide on the go based on the everage speed people progress with.

A lot of people assume a phase will last around 3-4 months. Earlier ones will likely be a bit shorter than the latter phases.

Is this a bad time to bring up the unarmored mounts then =P

Blizzard won’t have set times for each phase. As above, they’ve stated that they will see how the general population is progressing and make decisions based on that.
Personally i think for phase 1, the longer the better.

I would expect it to closely mirror the patch progression from 04-06.

From Ion Hazzikostas in the video entitled “WoW Classic Interview w/ Ion Hazzikostas & Calia Schie” at time 9:35-10:40 :

Q: Any more information on the length/release schedule for Phases

A: Try to keep it a bit flexible. If you were to ask me to ballpark a random number, I’d say for the first couple: probably around a couple of months. Part of it is that we don’t want people to feel ridiculously pressured to powerlevel if they want to participate in the next steps. But it’s something where we don’t want to lay out a rigid schedule ahead of time because we want to remain flexible looking at how the community is advancing. If people are still working their way through Blackwing Lair and Zul’Gurub and only a handful of guilds feel like they’ve defeated Nefarion, and even then they still have tons and tons of gear that they want we don’t want to rush Ahn’Qiraj out and kind of undercut that experience if most players aren’t ready for it. So I think I would say Phase 1 to 2 would probably be one of the faster progressions because we would want to get Dire Maul out there, the beginnings of the PvP system, a couple of world bosses. And then beyond that it’s just going to be watching how players are dealing with the content.

TL;DR — it depends on how the community as a whole clears the content.

So guilds that have ony!mc clears in less than a month will get bored with no new content?

Guilds will need to clear Ony and MC and gear up all 40 raid members, plus alternates, as well as farm consumables for the next stage of progression.

Those same people played Pservers and never got bored.

Get out of here with this bored nonsense. Nobody seriously into WoW classic is going to get bored, that’s not how this game works. There’s way too much to do in between content releases.

Hahahahahaha. You so funny.

Will likely be based on metrics. When XX% of players reach YY milestone, release next phase or some such.

BWL (in phase 3) came out in July 2005, 8 months after vanilla release. So 4 months for phase 1 and 4 months for phase 2 would be roughly consistent with the vanilla experience.

As Argor mentioned, you might clear MC/Ony in a month, but you won’t be done farming them for a long time.

So basically all the power levelers and overachievers that clear raids in the first couple weeks are going to ruin it for everyone else when they start crying for patch releases. Got it.

They aren’t going to ruin anything because Blizzard isn’t going to listen. If for no other reason, Blizzard needs to spread out the phrases to make sure Classic keeps people subscribed for at least a year and a half.

Phase 6 will not be live until sometime in 2021. Even phase 5 might not come until 2021.

Thanks for this!

Bliz must be careful that they don’t phase too soon or too slowly, because of attrition. Having it be based on general progression would be for the best IMO.

They will milk each phase for as long as they can to get sub money.
