This recent ban policy update/implementation on M+ leavers and the 30 mins debuff for LFG leavers got me thinking. I understand and can empathize when someone leaves a group. But guess what…it’s been happening since WoW started! It’s part of the social aspect of the game. It sucks, I agree.
However, time. We all have very finite amount of this before we’re done. I believe taking people PAID access away, thus affected their time to play, is a bad way of business. Some of you will understand what I am saying, others will not. But time gets so precious as our lives get busy and we get older.
There MUST be another way to address the issue, IF it’s really that bad.
Maybe it’s like .001% of people got banned for M+ leavers, but since Blizz won’t tell us, we don’t know. They have a policy, but won’t give us detailed metrics or what the rules are.
I wish I had a better answer, I don’t. This is part of playing a social game, it’s gonna happen across the entire gaming spectrum. Take anything from me, but not my time.
Ramble off, Happy thanksgiving
Well, you are playing a MMO whose entire business model is based on keeping you subbed and spending money…by consuming as much of your time as possible.
Most other game genres are much more time friendly
How about the time that I hade time times time many times.
I felt rich that day.

You move to support my point…we’re paying them for access. They are banning access to content. Therefore, getting money for something I cannot access that I paid for.
Again, I don’t know the answer, it just kills me when for example last night: LFR 3 boss raid. Group pulls 2nd boss before rezzing me from trash. Can’t get rezzed. Group kills boss. I get no access to loot cause I was dead the whole time. Release spirit, and leave group cause I am slightly confused…bam 30 mins time-out…did me leaving that group hurt ANYONE in that group? Not a bit…in fact, it made a spot for someone else!
Why are people acting like if they leave a M+ once in a while they are bound to get banned. They have already said it was for habitual leavers. Blizz has metrics on everyone and everything in game. People seem to forget this.

Time is finite! You only can have so much!
Because they won’t share the criteria. How can you enforce a policy, and not share the rules? It’s just shady to me that they won’t share the criteria. If it’s legit, then just share it geez
All this needed was an an hour deserter debuff for leaving and this would have been solved. Banning people doesn’t do any good, look at the gold farmers, been banning them for 20 years just for them to be back tomorrow. It’s more profitable to ban people though then they need a new copy of wow.
So when the group holds a player hostage to complete a doomed key they are supported?

I think folks got suspended not banned.
id love if it actually did that.
5 hours into tuesday i feel like they want me to logout and come back next week…
I don’t think this is true. I think they want to consume the “right” amount of time. It’s really not in their interest to have you consuming as much of their computing power as possible. They just want to make sure you play enough to be engaged and keep logging on the next hour/day/week/whatever to keep your sub active.
Funny saying that now esp after 1,000’s of players that lost everything in their guild banks…not just 1 but some folks lost everything in 4 guild banks and blizzard returned nothing to them …not a damn thing but they can measure how many times someone drops out of a Dungeon run on purpose now…blizzard states they lost logs for information for all the stuff in those guild banks…but they got all these records now for dungeon drop outs…
Yes. You signed up for it, time it or complete it, or just don’t go if you can’t commit the time.
Negative, if you join a key and the tank for example doesn’t touch their CDs and never survives the first tank buster you are not obligated to sit there never progressing.
Apparently blizzard disagrees. Also, don’t invite a tank who doesn’t touch their cd’s.
Blizzard doesn’t disagree, they even say in the post leaving is okay, the actions they are taking are against excessive leavers who tend to do it maliciously.

Love seeing all the people who leave groups often coming out of the woodwork acting like they’re suddenly victims

Just as you don’t want your time taken away, you don’t have the right to do the same to 4 other people.
And if you’re doing it intentionally or with obvious disregard for others, you deserve to be removed from the system everyone else is trying to enjoy.
They get banned for griefing… not just “random leaving”.
They’re taking their own access away. Actions have consequences.
