Why does this pet say it “has certain restrictions apply”…if I buy this pet from the Store do I get to use it in Retail or not…something is wrong with description in the shop window…
I haven’t purchased the pet yet, so haven’t seen that far into the in-game Shop page, but I do believe that has to do with this pet only being available in Retail.
The Restriction listed on the Shop page here on the website says this:
Not available in World of Warcraft® Classic games
Thanks for the info…I just didn’t want to spend the money and not be able to use it in Retail…I don’t play the classic stuff…besides they are not classic in true sense…these pets were never around for Vanilla or TBC or LK or Cata…yes there was some pets but not these new ones that are being only can be used in Classics…
and they took up inventory spots too!
The Classic version of the pet has shown up on my Cata Classic toon and ONLY there. It does not show up in my Classic Anniversary/Classic Era servers.
It came automatically because I have a repeating sub that automatically gives them to me.
I was confused by whether or not the pet was also available in Retail b/c it shows up in my uncollected on the pet journal with a full set of battling abilties, but the pets in Classic pre-MoP do not have abilities b/c there are no pet battles…only companions that follow you.
I am inclined to think that the store pet is ONLY available in retail while the one that comes exclusively from a 6 month or 12 month sub account is ONLY available in Classic.
I do not know this to be true, but it seems likely and I will buy the retail one from the store soon to confirm.
I have both pets. While they look the same , they do have different names. They are also for different versions of the game.

If it’s a non-battling pet, then $10 is a hard no
It is a battle pet.
I lack the expertise to determine if it’s a particularly valuable battle pet, but it does have pet battle abilities.
Its abilities are as follows:
Slot #1: Flyby / Tail Sweep
Slot #2: Ancient Blessing/ Poison Fang
Slot #3: Lift-off / Vicious Fang
It’s a nice ability set, especially for the option to have Ancient Blessing and Lift-Off both accessible.
It is a Flying class pet with Dragon and Beast abilities, which is also nice. It could definitely fill niches in some teams. The ability to avoid big hits with Lift-Off and a big personal heal is always a bonus. Generally, you’re made to choose between one or the other.
You have abilities that are strong against Critters, which is nice to have but not unique among Flying pets. The real gem here is Tail Sweep, which is strong against Magic pets–a huge boon for family battles since Flying class pets are weak against Magic ones. Fighting a Magic class enemy with an all-Flying team can be daunting, so it’s a nice addition there.
There are currently only four other Flying class pets in the game with Tail Sweep. One of them is a Trading Card pet - so not very accessible. The other three are all Nether Ray pets. One is from WoD (reputation vendor) and the other two are from TBC (one from a reputation vendor and the other from wild capture in Netherstorm).
