On one hand it’s weird to not have it somewhat match the raid but on the other we did complain about raid aesthetic having priority over class aesthetic and they did listen
Goblin aesthetic also kind of hit or miss so while I may like it maybe a lot of people don’t
Honestly, it’s weird how they always nail the nature theme with Druids, but when it comes to Hunters they just can’t be bothered.
Like oddly enough what comes to mind when i think Hunter is almost always the leather Druid set for any given tier. Then again, starting out the conceptual basis of Hunter armor is already kinda nonsensical… chain mail is expensive and not at all available in the natural environment we’re told in the class description Hunters spend most of their time in, it’s also HEAVY to wear as a full set.
I think… people need to come up with reasons for why this dislike a design when its fine to just not like it.
These armor sets don’t appeal to me. There are some tints I could kinda see using if the mood strikes me but its a long shot. That is perfectly fine to. Sure some people love’em like how I loved df s1 enough to hit elite for the first time.
The sets were like that for a long time, and were able to do both with varying results. These sets make no sense, and if we were to just say “Do a [CLASS] designed set” several classes were pretty basic and uninspired.
For instance, the Warlock set had horns, and the Monk set had a karate belt, and the Death Knight set had a skull face, and the Druid set had “proto-antlers”, and the Hunter set had “proto-feathers” and a bird face, and the Shaman set had a wolf face, etc.
But the Raid aesthetic drowned every single one of those details.
While I personally don’t mind tier sets that are thematically linked to the raid, there are also always a lot of complaints when Blizz does that as well. This might just be them responding to negative feedback.
I still maintain that way back in Cataclysm when they did the armor changes that they should have just removed the Mail category and had the three armor types; plate, leather, cloth. Or heavy, medium, light. They could have then put Hunters into leather, which would then let them mix and match with Druids (when possible).
