Just had a thought last night that after this first tier set level, should hero talents be focused on the hero talents rather than spec? To me this would allow for the expansion and improvement of the hero talent system. Could really take some of those more bleh talents and round them out to something that give them more flavor.
As an example, since I’m more familiar with it, Sunfury for mage:
2-set: increase phoenix damage by 10% and when phoenix a consumes spellfire orb by an additional 25%
4-set: Fire: Will trigger the phoenix on any application of combustion with a 5 second duration. (rather than just to hard cast.)
Arcane: Consuming an arcane charge has a 15% chance per charge to summon phoenix for 5 seconds.
Alternative 4-set: When your phoenix expires it has a 25% chance to rise from the ashes and fight for you again for 10 sec doing 80% damage. When the phoenix rises the remaining cooldown of combustion or Arcane Surge is reduced by 20%.
(obviously, these numbers are MY attempt at balance, but you get the picture)
If this is going to be evergreen system, they need to find out ways to improve it. It’s not like it’s the first time Devs used tier sets to improve their talent trees.
IF this was already the plan, I must have missed the memo somewhere.
