Tier Accessibility for Non-Raiders

Hello and happy new year to all.

I have been thoroughly enjoying Dragonflight thus far, but just wanted to voice my concerns regarding tier accessibility for M+ players.

I was sold on the “You can just play whatever part of the game you want” aspect of DF. I have no interest in raiding, pvp, collecting, professions, or anything else in wow. I just want to push M+ with my friends and family. It’s my niche, and I love it.

We are being seriously held back by the lack of accessibility to tier pieces. As I’m sure you know, tier is extremely powerful for pretty much every spec to the point that a person without their tier bonus is basically trolling at the key levels we’re playing at. We frequently have a three person party and pug a dps and healer, and almost every player at a similar mythic score to us has a full tier set. We really feel like we’re starting to hit our cap without access to it. We have gotten 2 pieces of tier between the three of us from the vault in total.

I understand tier will eventually be accessible to us weekly, but it will still be another month until we are able to complete our specs. It’s like we’re playing an incomplete class in the meantime just because we have no interest in raiding.

The “just play what you want” aspect of Dragonflight really missed the mark on tier availability for M+ players, and I hope something can be done to address this in future seasons.

Can we quit with this “accessibility” BS? This isnt about accessibility you clearly just want to get tier pieces faster and easily.

Tier pieces can drop from the vault from pvp, mythic+, and raids aka the 3 endgame pillars.

You can choose any of those endgame playstyles and get your tier set completed. ADDITIONALLY, the tier set forge is coming out soon so you can upgrade non set pieces to set pieces.

I honestly dont know what more you could possibly want, if you choose to not engage with any of the endgame pillars, i dont know what to tell you other than tier pieces are not needed to complete open world content.

Tier pieces take time, luck, and effort to get (and not much effort). The system is literally fine as is.

Additionally, i have cleared +13s and 8/8 normal every week they have been available and i only hit my 2 piece last night. The season is many months, you shouldnt be able to have everything u want right at the beginning

Its the buzzword that gets things done apparently…

Speaking as a non-raider, I agree.

I just play PvP and M+and i got 2 piece already, which is pretty on par with what would happen if i was raiding unless i was one of the classes getting tier funneled to that tier.

Also tiers this season aren’t exactly that powerful, you can play without them. We’re far from stuff like shield wall becoming a raid cooldown.

Well, let me propose a different question: Why are you so adverse to doing even normals? The first couple fights are basically facerolls at this stage. Things only start getting spicy at the spider boss.

I do wish I could go 8/8 though…Finding a pug for the last two bosses when you haven’t done them is hard…

There’s also LFR, which can also drop tier. It’s lower ilvl tier, but it gives the same bonuses which is the big draw.

The game isn’t holding you back from getting tier pieces. You seem to be doing that yourself…And I’m not too certain why? Really Normals are less stressful than M+s…

I’ve yet touch even LFR and only did 4 Mythics last week for the weekly and I walked away with my tier gloves from the vault. Sounds fine to me

They should have just released the catalyst on week 2 of the raid opening. By now you’d have at least your 2 pieces. Anti-fun detected and they fear players will burn through their content so fast and have nothing to strive for? Ridiculous people.

M+ players already get infinite gear at insane ilvls. Raiders get jack besides a higher chance of getting their tier (its 5 weeks and I still only have 2 piece). You don’t need everything.

I mean completing your full tier set super early is a bit lame, its fun to grind and strive to complete the set. I honestly dont mind waiting 6 weeks for the catalyst

Assuming the pieces drop for you to turn in to tier. I doubt we’ll be able to use items we have banked.

That being said, having tier come from the vault is a bonus the devs didn’t have to offer. Tier has historically always come from raids. The system is fine as it is — and this is coming from someone who still only has 1 piece.

That’s a bit of a myth, even doing 15s to 19s just give 398 gear which is like, normal mode gear? And drop rates are abysmal.

There’s a reason most of my gear is from PvP, my vault or crafting lol.

Honestly if you want to gear up quickly you have to mix up the game modes you take part of, its kind of by design, raiding+maxing valor + maxing conquest is most likely the fastest way to gear up.

Ya im gona have to hard diagree with you, WoW already is giving you insanely good gear for m+ with the chance of raid tier AND the catalyst to turn a piece into tier.
You can play however you want, besides tier doesnt make the class so ur not playing an incomplete spec(poor choice of words).

2nd an more of a follow up you can play however you want an have 2 avenues to get tier pieces. Yet ur also ignoring the very obvious choice(raid/LFR) which to be fair for both arguments ur purposely ignoring.

My questions is how do you want them to give you this tier?? AND how are you gonna prevent this new system from being abused.
Also do you want normal/heroic/mythic tier??? Whats fair these are general off the top of my head questions. You have to find answers for prior to just asking Blizzard to just do it.

Ive only been pvping and leveling alts so far this expansion. I got my 2nd tier this week on my hunter and i find it pretty cool that I can have tier just from pvp. sure the vault can be rng and some will be unlucky, but its still better than having to raid. plus the tier in the vault from pvp has the pvp ilvl on it.

I got lucky and managed to reach my third piece, but this week smacked me with every tier boss I did (Normal and Heroic) didn’t drop a single Druid token. And only one of these pieces came from me raiding, the other two were the weekly vault. So you’re acquiring tier on par with a Raider just by doing M+. Raiding isn’t some magical 4-set button you seem to think it is.

I do think the Catalyst could come out sooner than scheduled, but M+ is still the best way to actually get gear compared to raiding; you don’t need even more showered upon you.

Didn’t intend to reply to you initially, but drop rate doesn’t really detract from the amount of gear you can get here.

I agree that if you wanna min max (like OP wants to) you need to be doing ALL endgame content

There’s a bit of a caveat to this: In order to upgrade Conq gear you need to win a match at specific ratings. (1200, 1400, 1600, etc…) If memory serves Conq gear is below even Raid Finder gear in regards to ilvl by default. Merely maxing Conq points for the week won’t do it unfortunately.

I got two pieces as Normal loot and two from Vaults. Pretty fortunate in that regard! I can’t get a darned weapon to drop though…Hope I get the ilvl upgrade item from M+s this week so I can just get one crafted…

Valor/conquest caps are dumb. They still need rating to use that currency. It takes 4 dungeons to max valor for the entire week. I’m sure it’s similar with conquest.

Why do the caps exist?

Currently I dont need any rating to get full conq gear, it all scales instantly to 424 or full bg gear to 411.
Now with honor you can upgrade both HOWEVER bg gear can be fully upgraded 5/5 just honor. The stat gain is something like.
+100 extra armor +64 strength +138 stamina +51 haste + 66 vers. (An thats going from 1/5 to 5/5*** edited to add).

Conq gear is capped starting at 1350 first week then 550 every week after. You do need however rating to upgrade ur Conq, that is true.
Overall I havent noticed the stats difference I gained from upgrading my Bg gear in actually pvp an it only seemed to really help in Wpvp.(could 100% be wrong on this).

Oh! I should clarify, this is true! In PvP instances upgrades are absolutely meaningless. If you want to use that gear in PvE content though, upgrading it to be competitive with drops is a bit more of a song and dance.

My PvE trinkets are my PvP ones, which do the job pretty well! No fancy or wacky gimmicks, just flat Haste and Int boosts. It’s pretty nice!
