Before BFA Riptide use to give two stacks of Tidal Waves, so you could Riptide --> Healing Wave/Surge x2.
This is how I made my keep in Legion. Our mythic raid ran two Rshams so I would be a spot healer while the other was a chain heal user.
This choice is now gone in BFA. We are now forced to Chain Heal. Having to Riptide twice before getting any casted heals out makes me feel like I’m falling behind. Also, after you Healing Wave/Surge x2, both Riptides are not off cd.
Please revert this change in Shadowlands. If player agency is truly the M.O, give the players the choice on how they want to heal.

What about using Deluge instead of eote? I think Deluge is better for tank healing if that’s what you’re wanting to do.
It’s not the healing that’s holding me back, it’s the feel to the class.
Riptide into double fast casted Healing Wave felt good. It also felt good seeing my overhealing being a lot less than the other healers due to how efficient I was.
This is why I use flash flood more often than not this expansion. It acts essentially as a second tidal wave, if you want to use healing wave, or you can use it to quicken a healing rain/chain heal.
Tidal waves is being nerfed again next expansion, so best to just get used to it not being there as often or being as great as it once was.
It is a design flaw. We shouldn’t have to cast lackluster Riptide to make our otherwise lackluster Surge/Waves feel better. All of our spells should just feel good to cast. Tidal Waves is the lamest and oldest healer mechanic that needs a full rework going into Shadowlands. It’s been the same since patch 3.2, like seriously?
