Hello comrades,
With all the doom and gloom about Prot warriors in SL I’ve consistently heard, I never see anyone talking about this crazy thing:
Thunderlord - Each enemy you hit with Thunder Clap reduces the remaining cooldown on Demoralizing Shout by 3 sec.
Combined with Booming Voice and Unstoppable force this looks insane both defensively and offensively. But I’m just a casual warrior player so idk for sure.
What do you guys think?
It’s an effect from back in Legion that worked really well in M+ thanks to all the trash pulls, and I don’t see any reason why it won’t be BiS for M+ in SL either. Though I don’t bother to keep myself 100% updated with SL development all the time so I’m probably wrong or something.
It may not be as good on raid bosses since they generally don’t have many targets, but I think it’s good as a first legendary pick regardless, if you’re going to main Prot.
It’s even potentially useful in battlegrounds combined with the PvP Demo Shout talent (reduces enemy damage done by 20% to all friendlies) which can be very strong in team fights with it’s high uptime.
It’s a good legendary effect, overall imo.

Aye that’s what I thought. But everyone is all like “Prot sucks now for M+”, but this thing looks like it would provide more Demo Shout than Anger Management ever could, plus Booming Voice is stronger now. I don’t see the reason for negativity with a legendary like this being an option.
Plus we can now finally use Devastator thank god.
(Thinking of making warrior my main or at least a priority alt, I really like Prot and Arms. Fury is cool to.)

There’s definitely some great synergy with Thunderlord + Booming Voice + Crackling Thunder (optional, depending on how well you group up the mobs) + Indomitable + Unstoppable Force + Anger Management to allow for high uptime on both Avatar and Demo Shout, with all that rage spent feeding back into Anger Management as well as a steady trickle of self healing coming from Indomitable.
Of course, this synergy works best only in M+ with all the trash pulls, but it’s definitely something to look out for.

Yet nobody is talking about it lol.
Strange.
Quick tip.
It’s pretty rare for one specific tank to truly be in a bad place. More often than not, the difference in capability between the six is overblown, due to A; the lower number of slots in raid/m+ for tanks, and B; the lower number of tank options.
On the beta, numbers are irrelevant. That said, all six tanks are performing well enough. Strong ones have been nerfed, weak ones buffed, but final numbers are never final until heroic week.
Ya, I had heard all the doom and gloom too until I popped over to the Skyhold discord. Mostly the talk of Prot being ranked low in M+ is for competitive M+ only. So if you’re doing anything 15 or less the differences in classes are negligible. 15 to 20 will notice some differences and 20+ is where things start to spread out. Which means as a Prot Warrior you can still be successful, but if everything else being equal, our kit isn’t as optimized.
I expect that to change over the course of the xpac though, it always seems to.
