The world quest for Thundering Goliath is extremely fickle and sensitive to the Goliath’s location, prone to dropping from the pop-up tracker if it moves around at all. When this happens, players are unable to gain quest completion credit for killing the Goliath.
The present solution appears to be engaging the Goliath at point blank range and preventing its movement.
Yes this quest is buggy for everyone. It will randomly drop in the middle of combat for wife and I and often not pop in general when we’re in the zone of it.

Having the same problem- Was happening two days ago when the WQ was up too, I believe for the first time.
Still happening, sometimes the quest just doesn’t even activate at all. Going to a different area and back can sometimes cause it to activate, but it can still drop mid-combat.
Seven kills in a row on my druid and no credit. I filed a bug report each time. I did two kills on five other alts until they got credit. The quest never stopped tracking or anything, just never got credit. WQ never dropped for me.

Multiple kills and zero credit given.
Bug continues to persist. This is extremely annoying as he has a knockback attack and a single usage is enough to cause the marker to disappear from the map and rob me of quest completion upon a kill.
This is essentially one less service medal I can earn because the quest cannot be completed.
