Ok, so I have been slacking in higher Ruby keys, meaning, I have avoided them like the plague.
I ran a 20 last night and realized I need a game plan for thunderhead and his dot he puts on 2 people. I think my highest timed fort is an 18 and I want to say I healed through it then. It is a blur. Can’t do that in a 20 though.
Edit to add: I play Holy
What do you peoples do for fort 20+ keys in there? Or generally since I guess it is probably what you do all of the time. I just haven’t practiced enough to have a plan and it is over so fast that I feel like I have learned nothing when it is over.
Do you mass dispel both, one at a time? Hope people use defensives? How do people live through this awfulness?
Also, I read someone somewhere say that they use divine word for higher keys. Is that the play with using boosted sanctify on the ground almost on CD to help with all of the crazy heals?
I haven’t really ran many keys the last couple of weeks and I am kind of out of practice. Would love a couple tips for when I do guild vault runs so I am not total fail.
I haven’t played holy outside raid in a while, so dunno specific tips. Personally I’d just be ready to spend my time mostly healing on thunderhead - hpriest should have the raw throughput for it.
You never dispel both unless everyone has a defensive on. The debuff is pretty much the entirety of the damage from Thunderhead, and dispelling it does a party-wide burst. At a +20, dispelling both at the same time will party-wide for a HUGE amount and you’re basically just hoping people have defensives at that point.
When I play Shaman (which is as close to hpriest as I play), the method is basically to dispel one, then AoE heal to get HP back up on the group (a high tide chain heal or a CD), then focus heal the other debuff target since they’ll be taking a decent chunk of damage.
So for Holy what I’d do if I was still playing it (and I probably will be in .7) basically anticipate the debuff - keep people near top before that (though they shouldn’t be losing health to anything since the only other problem is breath). When it goes out, immediately dispel one, then HW:Sanc, then Triage heal everyone else up with FH/Heal/Trail of Light before the other goes off, paying closer attention to the debuff target.
You don’t use Mass Dispel on Fortified weeks otherwise people will die without defensives.
The way I handle it is I dispel one person and pump heals into the second person that still has the dot and just make sure everyone’s above 70% before it goes off.
Divine Word is what you need to use to heal through Hyrja and it’s also good in TJS with all the constant exploding adds.
Ok, that sounds like a great plan. Thank you. It was so bad last night, I think we full wiped once and then took turns dying a few times after that before it died.
I watched a video where someone MD’d on a 20, but I am guessing it was a tyrannical week? I was watching on my phone and I couldn’t tell what week it was with their UI.
Oh absolutely! I use it every HoV I run but hadn’t thought of the exploding mobs in TJS. Those are gross for sure. Thanks for the tip!
The video I watched the priest was using it in RLP and placed buffed Sanctify on the ground during almost all of the packs up top. Was curious if that was a thing too.
Always looking for an “easy button.”
Thanks you two. Kind of coasting the rest of the season and these kinds of tips sure make it easier to not lose my mind doing so lol.
