Thunderfury XMOG Issue. I'M GONNA CRY

AS YOU READ THIS, JUST KEEP IN MIND THAT I STREAMED THIS COMPLETE FAILURE, MAKING A GRADE-A MORON OUT OF MYSELF. WAS SO KOOL.

So i just spent 40k on Elementium Bars after getting both Bindings of the Windseeker for the Thunderfury questline. I did quite a bit of research before doing this, as i got the bindings on my SHAMAN while i was farming the Flametongue enchant illusion. I didn’t think I could even do the quest, since I cant equip swords, and in the past you couldn’t mog legendaries, so they sat in my bank. I did an hour or two of research, and asking people in trade chat.

I came to the understanding that you can do the quest on ANY CHARACTER, and would receive TRANSMOG access on characters that CAN USE 1H swords, and this was to my great surprise. I was genuinely impressed; I thought wow, they actually thought this through, for once. Sweet.

I just recently came back to the game, and once I found out the extent of 8.3’s BS that requires a set of Encyclopedias to figure out just to deal with increasing ilvl, i haven’t upgraded my ilvl on main or alt since. It has been beyond depressing and disheartening to have such irritating hoops to jump through to progress in the game-- back in my day, you RAIDED and got gear, and then you… ENJOYED IT.

I am just waiting on this corruption BS to go away, farming mounts and transmog stuff. THAT’S WHY THIS WHY I WAS SO DAMN EXCITED FOR THIS… only to finish the quest in complete disappointment-- hopes and dreams SHATTERED. If you don’t plan to change this, please, make the quest items unlootable by those who it is useless for, or make the quest undo-able. I am 40k down and countless MC runs over months and months, all for effectively nothing. EFF MY LIFE!

Thanks for your time and attention, and DON’T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE AS ME. YOU CANNOT GET ACCESS TO THUNDERFURY TRANSMOG FROM ANY CHARACTER, DESPITE WHAT VARIOUS INFORMATION SOURCES MIGHT TELL YOU.

if something happens to be done about this, thanks in advance, though i am not exactly holding my breathe. Damnit… rip me. I woke up 4 hours ago and i am so disappointed that I am hoping i can return to unconsciousness ASAP from this depressing experience. Le sigh…

Why have one THunderfury when you can have TWO

Wait so every single other leggo in ther game has an xmog form except thunderfury? That doesnt sound right. Is it simply because you must be able to equip said item reward from quests to unlock the xmog - eg - my warrior doesnt unlock wand xmog because i cant use it and in terms of other slots, cloth/leather/mail items will only unlock for those specific classes that use them.

Im still in the one binding club after 14ish years on my warrior - i finished my hand of rag a few years back and that xmog is unlocked.

Wait. So let me get this straight. Is it because you did the quest on a toon that can’t wield 1h swords?

Im assuming this is ther case. I hope so because if i ever get that other binding im going to mog every single toon i can with TF!

Well I did the quest on my DH so I had no issues. Was able to unlock the mog across all characters no problem. So I’m guessing that’s the source of the OPs issue.

Legendaries are like any other transmog in the game in that you need to unlock it on a character that can actually use the transmog, at which point it becomes available account wide.

This is pretty much the only rule when it comes to transmog.

Unfortunately Shamans can’t use 1-handed swords.

1h swords, glaives, fist weapons, yes.

Or just get the real thing on a rogue, than you can xmog it to other classes.

good thing 40k isn’t that much other than selling a few greens from old content…

I’d still be pissed about getting the bindings on a char I couldn’t use them rather than the gold tho

I only tried for it on my characters that the bindings said the quest was for, which was for me pallies and warriors.

My pally got it, on a server I had no cash and only two characters really high enough to do anything about it. One was fortunately a miner so I just had to go mine 100 arcane crystals myself, and power leveled (with out the ah, being brokeish) the pally into a alchemist to transmute them myself.

Oh yeah - while only the classes denoted on the bracers can unlock the mog, once you have it you can transmog it on any character that can hold a sword - looks real neat on a mage.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune. Unfortunately you need to get xmog on characters that actually use that specific type of gear. This is similar to how warriors cant collect cloth appearances and mages can’t collect plate appearances.

The rule is that if an item binds on pickup and the toon can’t use that item then the appearance is not collected nor can it be collected from that item. Pretty unfortunate but that’s the way it has always been with modern transmog.

I took a character into Black Temple to get some transmog I’d had my eye on - her first time in there, one of the legendary Warglaives dropped from Illidan.

The following week, her second time in there, the other warglaive dropped.

Unfortunately, the character was my mage :wink:

Still got 'em in the bank as a tribute to the ironies of RNG.

i mean, its tied to whatever class can actually equip it right? like any transmog

Yep. I got my TF a couple months ago and it mogs beautifully for me.
