Who told Blizzard we were happy with Ride the Lightning! You guys know we are not allowed to be happy. Come on guys, keep it together.
Are they changing it to thundercharged?
Yep.
I mean come on though. Realistically some of those would have been problematic for balancing anyways. Enhance/boomy/fire mage in particular. Though they could’ve done a reverse PVE and made the PVP traits only do 50% in PVE.
I mean the ability recovery could have some potentials
I actually like it. For example During big pulls you could put thundercharged on a prot warr and have shield block recharge 30% faster that’s nuts
even more enhancement nerfs man i have never seen this much hate for a spec/class before in any mmo game.they just keep nerfing a already bad class…nice class design blizzard you need to hire better people to work for you.
i guess ill jsut have to play enhancement on classic wow its a real enhancement shaman unlike todays spec.at least there is a better version of wow on the way.
Blah… I was really looking forward to running mythic plus with the SS build. The AoE would have been crazy. Gotta be better then thorns tho right lol.
It’s probably because a shaman would randomly, with no control over it, pull random groups of mobs in a dungeon.
I will say, if they removed the gcd from thundercharged it would actually be pretty good.
I thought the fixed forked lighting to only hit in combat mobs?
Make it spectral recovery instead!! I would absolutely love that. :)
I’m surprised nobody is talking about how garbage the Resto one is. Like Holy crud blizz Tidebringer would make resto shaman feel a lot less clunky in m+ in situations where we can’t get our ridiculously long 2.5s Chain Heal cast out. It’s not like resto shaman are tearing up the charts in Raiding or M+… Ancestral Gift is so freaking worthless man.
Tidebringer would make resto distugstingly OP and a very obvious reason why they didn’t pick it.
I like Thundercharge in PVE. More Sundering, Ascendance, wolves, etc… I think Ride the Lightning would have been a great addition to our AOE damage, but I’m not heartbroken about Thundercharge either.
After chatting with Zaclinric in a pvp thread, I started using Thundercharge in pvp recently and have found a lot of value in it. I gave up Ride the Lightning for it, so having both (+ 2 more) in pvp will be great.
How? Chain Heal range is barely ever an issue in raids and the 50 percent cast time reduction every 8 seconds should be on par with the other MAJOR essence slots that we give up for this. It’s not like Resto shammys tear up the charts anyway.
The monk and disc priest ones are absolutely nuts.
The new ride the lightning was a shell of what it was so i cant say i was thrilled. Although for pur dmg it was our best choice. Honestly besides shamanism all the other enh pvp talents are pretty lackluster. I just wish blizz would focus on making enh less squishy…
I’m not a huge fan of thunder charge personally. I know some have advocated for it and maybe it’s the build I play or I haven’t given it enough of a chance (although I have experimented with it multiple times) but the global cd on it is a killer for me. Particularly in pvp where there’s so much windup already.
Honestly, I never gave it a shot until it was mentioned in the pvp thread. I’m glad I tried it though. I certainly wouldn’t call it essential in the same way Turbo Fists is for Windwalker, but it’s worth trying IMO. Faster cool downs on everything adds a lot of value. Check it out this weekend, run a few BGs, and see what you think.
Nomak,
Thanks for linking your shaman. Your comments are always constructive. You are also running higher keys than me although I don’t know if that is as enhancement (you did mention doing a 13 as enhance so I know you’ve gone that far). As your current profile is resto. I run group finder as enhancement so I just try to get a 10-12 off each week because it’s a pain in the neck to get higher as a random enhance.
I also think it may be harder as an enhance to successfully complete random high mythic+ because the groups that accept us aren’t necessarily as good as the groups that reject us.
If you were to give your own comprehensive assessment of enhancement what would it be?
Here is my Shaman’s profile below. There is a Shaman named Nomak, but that isn’t me. I couldn’t think of a name that wasn’t already taken on Tich, or complete gibberish (randomizer), so I went with Nhomak. Not exactly clever, but I tried so many names and finally said “eff it”.
I haven’t done anything with Resto on him though. I tried Ele a few months back, but I was so garbage it only lasted a couple of days before I went back to Enh. Too lazy to go through the growing pains of learning to play I suppose. I had a 29 twink shaman back in BC, but this guy is my only real experience with the class. I decided to level up a horde character to play with my nephew, and Shaman has always intrigued me. I loved the class fantasy ever since I saw the original WoW cinematic (Tauren), and ate my fair share of WF procs back in the day as well.
I am no expert by any stretch of the imagination. I just really like the class, despite the opinions of many people. I have the good fortune of being in a guild that doesn’t give me any trouble about the spec. I’m not pushing high keys either. I usually just get 1 done per week. Same as you, I just get at least a 10 done each week. Your ilvl is more than adequate for the keys that you have been doing.
As far as my assessment goes, overall I think we are adequate . I don’t see Enh being invited to the MDI in its current state, but getting 10-15 keys done weekly shouldn’t be an issue. I’d like to see Crash Lightning damage buffed. I’d like to see changes to our weapon buffs (flametongue and frostbrand). Longer duration perhaps, or even weapon buffs similar to the DK’s rune forge. I’d like to see Sundering have a frontal cone effect like Wake of Ashes. It’s great when a BDK grips in large packs and you can hit them all, but many times you have to position yourself to try and hit as many adds as you can. Wake vs Reaping > Sundering vs Reaping, just based on the hit cone. I’d like to have Feral Lunge baseline as well. Not that I don’t see issues with Enh, but we’re not nearly as bad as most people think. Biggest issue I see is the large number of globals we have. Wolves, Flametongue, Frostbrand, Sundering, Rockbiter, Ascendance, Crash Lightning, Lava Lash, and Stormstrike. I don’t dislike the builder/spender mechanic, as most classes have something similar.
I’m logged out in my world quest setup (in case I encounter random pvp). In PVE I swap out Boulderfist and Landslide for Lightning Shield and Forceful WInds. My PVE helm has Thunderaan’s Fury, and Rezan’s Fury. So I basically run the SS build, but I use Hailstorm since I run 2 x Natural Harmony in PVE (3 in pvp).
Anyway, keep fighting the good fight. It may not be in BFA, but Enh will get some love from Blizz one day!
edit: I just realized the Shaman profile you were referring to in my other post. That isn’t my Shaman. That character belongs to Ion Hazzikostas. I linked him to illustrate that Ion doesn’t play Enh, or pvp, so he has no personal stake in how Enh fares in pvp.
