Thunder Bluff is stuck in a state where the shadow of vol and dark tendrils are attacking and I don’t know how to turn it off. I tried removing all quests which might be causing it and killing everything but I can’t figure out how to turn it off.
Also, Dalaran has the quest from Legion which won’t let you use the one bank. Again, I don’t have any quests for it and it’s been like that for years now. I have that one on several characters.

thunder bluff gets phased like that during the quest line to unlock highmountain taurens. it won’t unphase until you complete the line. i would go through the chain one by one and try to find the quest giver where you left off. https://www.wowhead.com/quest=41764/walking-in-their-footsteps
you’re probably in the same boat for dalaran, you need to finish a questline to get the bank back. if you remember what quest it is or more about it we can probably find what to do for that one also.

Neither quest line is mandatory, why am I being forced to do them on this character and not all of them? I tried to find the quest I dropped in TB, I stopped playing for a while and it’s not there now. I finished off the later parts with the attack on Undercity, maybe that’s why the quest isn’t there?
The Legion quest is just something that popped up if you went to the wrong bank, something about a robbery. It’s a long quest line I don’t want to do, are they holding the bank hostage to try and compel me to do it? I’d rather use the other bank than run the quest, it’s pretty bad which is why I dropped it. I even made sure not to go to that bank in Legion on my other alts so they couldn’t try and force me to take it, several years later and the bank is still in the same state even though I dropped the quest not long after I received it.
Anytime you start a major quest chain that causes phasing, you’ll need to keep questing until the phasing goes away. It usually won’t last more than a few quests. Dropping the quest won’t undo the phasing because then it would make completing the chain impossible, as you’d be in the wrong phase to pick the quest up again.
They typically only do this for more major quest chains. Unlocking an allied race, unlocking new areas from expansions, etc. The reason you’re being forced to do them on that character is because you started whatever quest chains on that character.
I can try to find where you left off in the highmountain tauren unlock chain but it’ll take me a bit. I remember the bank quest you’re talking about but I can’t find it’s name. Most likely if you want to unphase it you don’t need to complete the whole chain, just another quest or two.

I opened a ticket on this instead, but I think I’m done with trying to fix this problem and will close it. Just not worth the effort having to try and explain the problem over and over, maybe someday they’ll need to reuse the TB asset and will reset it then.
To be clear - this isn’t a bug or something a GM can fix for you - the area being phased until you complete the quest line is working as intended. The best you’ll get is them telling you what quest you left off on, which is something you can figure out on your own. It is likely never going to be reset unless they decide to remove the highmountain tauren from the game which I don’t ever see happening.
I believe you need to speak to spiritwalker graysky in thunder totem in highmountain to continue this quest line with the quest dark tales. On the upside, the entire quest chain only takes like an hour, and then you can play as a highmountain tauren allied race.
I still can’t find the quest line in dalaran that phases the bank. If you can come up with any more information that might help me get a quest name in the line then I can probably track that down as well, if it’s something you care to fix.

I appreciate your efforts, this was resolved through the ticket. I thought I dropped the quest in TB but I just needed to turn it in in High Mountain, the chain terminated since I’d already completed it on another char and the city unphased. I flew over TB several times looking for that quest.
I’m just going to leave the bank. Thanks for your help.
Got it. Thanks for the update.
I was curious about what would happen if you started the chain on more than one character before completing it. Interesting to know that you basically just complete one more quest and then it ends.

Didn’t seem right doing it on a Forsaken, I opened them on a Tauren.
Thank you for your assistance, it helped with the ticket to get it resolved.
