Personally I liked casting /spit on bosses that didn’t give me the loot I was aiming for 
— Them and particular villains for RP purposes 
- It was cool emoting to Queen Azshara and having her react with various responses depending on the emote <3
If Blizzard restored it, but simply disallowed it to be emoted on players?
I’d be cool with that. That’d be a very welcome compromise I’d gladly accept.

Besides /spit — what are some emotes that YOU find pleasing to cast on NPCs that irk, insult or vex you? 
… That or emotes you like to type as a torment / tease / playfully throw to the boss or character in question for whatever reason (like we would do to Azshara, lol)

People were using it on NPCs like Field Marshal Afrasiabi. The emote was removed and the name of the NPC changed.
lol I mean that’s kinda funny, but I get why it’s controversial.
Maybe if they blacklisted a few particular NPCs from having the react used on (along with players, obviously) and then give free reign to the rest? 
Blacklist all of the ones inspired by certain real life individuals or homage to entertainment, I suppose.

I’ve /glared at a lot of alliance npcs who need to watch their mouths… Don’t you be foR tEh AlLiaNcE-ing me you tiny tiny thing. I just imagine them smirking when they say it too. >:0
Oh I wonder if the zandalari effigy toy works on npcs. Thats a good one to explain your opinion of someone who you fine… troublesome.

I never saw the point of removing emotes when you can create them through /me Lol.
As rawr says you can essentially make custom emotes. Only true limitation is cross faction you’ll appear to make weird gestures
He despawned right after I did it. I’ve never felt so powerful. 
To the other faction you are just making strange gestures.

One of the bosses in the Endwalker Alliance raid in FF14 will yell at you, “cut it out,” and do a knockback and like 90% of your health in a single shot if you dote(blow kiss) or hug her lol.

/rude… it was perfect for every occasion. I never used /spit because I’m not a teenager who thinks it’s funny.

I love the achievements related to emotes or the NPCs that are reactive to them
Queen Azshara fight was always loads of fun for me in groups back in BFA for that reason, lol
It still is. I use it and /slap regularly on alliance npcs.
