Throwback to Corrupted Visions, how bad did it feel to fail a vision?

Hi folks!

I’m visiting old patch content in this current lull we’re experiencing and my goodness visions are incredible. Completely re-designed Stormwind with Void Corruption and people everywhere.

There is one thing that came to mind - i was a bit of an idiot on one of my runs and didnt watch my bar and I basically died, boom vessel basically wasted. Given the average amount of vessels a week I can get is 2.5-3.5 depending on how many dailies I do this actually felt kinda bad.

So looking back and a question for people who experienced BfA 8.3 live, was it a really bad day if you failed two visions at the start when the legendary cape was important? What did it mean for your progression? Were there other catchups (like extra currency from the BfA great vault or something)?

I remember preparing myself before every run so I didn’t set myself back by messing up a single one.

Because it took many, many runs to empower the cloak, I quickly learned to temper my ambitions. Because of this, complete failure was rare, it was more often a case of knowing when to stop pushing and finish the run with what I had.

I can’t speak to the cape or progress or anything, I didn’t get much progress in Visions.

But I know that maybe its because it was smaller, or simpler, or whatever, but I felt “worse” about failing a Vision than I did about failing a Twisted Corridor run in Torghast.

And thats curious, because TC was notorious. It was notorious for taking a long time, and then you get to a very high level and a boss or mob pack just clobbers you – make you feel nothing you’ve done to that point matter (it obviously didn’t, or you wouldn’t have been one shot). And it took so long to get there, and all the progress was gone. Blow a TC run and you have to climb 18 levels – again.

And I had my share TC losses, but for whatever reason, they weren’t as frustrating at Vision losses. Maybe I felt I had more control in TC, and it was more “my fault” than what was happening to me in Visions. Hard to say, been a long time since I did them.

I do know I stopped Visions when I stopped progressing. Seemed I need to progress in Visions to progress in Visions, and since I couldn’t progress in Visions, I couldn’t progress in Visions. So I stopped.

That didnt’ feel too good either.

(the alternative was to gear up in content that I didn’t do – heroic raids and what not.)

Simple, just don’t fail them

Free mythic raid gear every week

This is what it felt like.
If I failed because of a mess up on an alt, it was on me.
I also greatly preferred Org weeks over SW ones for some reason.

Either way, 8.3 overall was some of the best content I’ve ever had the pleasure to experience in WoW with all the OPness from HoA + essence + corruptions.

Pretty simple. That’s because Torghast wasn’t on a limited key system. The time you wasted on a failed run was only the time you spent in there. A failed Vision, on the other hand, was wasting not only the time you spent on the run, but the time you spent farming the key to access the run in the first place, and one less run you’d ever be able to attempt.

It felt fine failing because it was 100% your fault and thus 100% within your power to fix. Once you got your groove, it became kind dull and routine and Org weeks were WAY easier than SW weeks.

Corruptions were the best endgame content we’ve ever had. A perfect way to let us build up and flex our might and just go bonkers and just have fun. A real shame that mentality can’t exist in the current iteration of the game.

Uh, dunno. I don’t think I blew up many vessels after getting all the powers. Maybe it was kind of cheese to wait for CD on immunity then just pull a whole wing and then vaporizing it with CDS but it sure was consistent. :dracthyr_comfy_sip:

I hated Visions and the dailies to get vessels. So failing one just made me angry. I hated the insanity mechanic, it stressed me out. I hated the content. I’m glad it’s gone.

I don’t want to sound cocky but… I don’t really recall ever failing them? At least not once we got into the farm mode having everything unlocked.

It was nothing compared to missing out / not being able to buy your BIS corruptions when they were available

Biggest issue I had with visions was the currency needed just to do them. That was horrible.

Tysm everyone! It seems when/if BfA classic comes I just need to prep for it like a dungeon, maybe get drums etc.

There is too much to respond to but I greatly appreciate the viewpoints!

Wow so it hasn’t hasn’t changed! I did last week and this week and Orgrimmar was easy peasy. Comparatively Stormwind opens itself up to some dumb things like falling off on the way to Magister Unbric OR BEING IN DAMN COMBAT WITH SOME RANDOM RAT CRITTER.

But my goodness the dialogue is just brilliant. Arathor begging for his life as his mother sends him into the void.

Yea, perhaps that could have been it. In hindsight it was a factor, perhaps something that put me off of them later on. Too expensive to try and fail. Good point.
