Void Bolt is one of the defining parts of Shadow’s rotation. Void Torrent is also extremely important and Voidweaver literally doesn’t work without it.
Also the answer is 6, shadow had 6 rotational abilities in Wrath. Which last I checked is a bit more than 3.

wrath spriest was just SW:P > VT > MB > MF > DP and maybe SW:D but death was pretty bad back then if I recall. I mean yeah it’s 6 but none of that was very complicated or “deep”. like it’s just a very simple checklist to follow, nothing too crazy here
applying SW:P by casting VT was a legit QoL improvement, I think most people believe it is at least. I’m sorry but I believe you are conflating bloat with complexity here

My main is a BM hunter. I play it only because of my pet. I lost my cat Bella 6 months after taming Loque’nahak. The minute it was tamed i renamed it to Bella.
When i returned after 12 years i logged onto my hunter after logging onto everyone else. I forgot that bella was still here, waiting for me to return, waiting to go into battle with me once more. So while my spec may be lame, easy, etc. I dont care.
I dont care what anyone thinks. Im here to go into battle and remember my poor deaf cat who would play hide and seek with me. My cat whome i had to put down due to cancer.

Blizzard can solve this for people who claim they want more button bloat, just add in extra abilities to specs that reduce your damage done when used. Problem solved, the people claiming they want more complex rotations just because of it will never be played and everybody else will be happy.
Where are the other 2-3 fingers for movement, two more fingers for cc and interrupt & the brain for Mythic Raid mechanics all at the same time while trying to get dps out??? If you play openword and nobody is depending on you, enjoy but not in group driven content.

The context of the discussion was raid fights, specifically movement during raid fights. Your only mention of PvP prior to that was saying people complain melee is oppressive in PvP.
