Thrall got his powers back

What.

did I miss something or is this story just complete garbage.

Nope.

Pretty much how it’s going.

Every expansion, somebody has to get crazy power boosts out of nowhere.

Even though Thrall previously gifted a vast majority of his powers with the Aspects to take down Deathwing, then pretty much lost them–or something–during/post Garrosh business, he’s been pretty power-neutral the entire time. Now he randomly just has access to them again. No explanation, no forewarning/foreboding, nothing.

I haven’t seen him use magic since WoD.

He seems to fight like a Warrior now. Any shaman would get really dizzy doing what he was doing in the Maw!

It was retconned into a self-confidence thing. The elements themselves never left Thrall (why would they? The killing of Garrosh happened in an alternate timeline on a different planet. Why would Azeroth care?) The problem was that Thrall himself never trusted in himself after what had happened.

Also, they probably just needed an excuse to give ENHShammies access to Doomhammer and didn’t care much about the long-term ramifications on Thrall’s character.

Did no one think that maybe rejoining the Horde and leading the Orcs have helped him overcome his guilt?

No. I really doubt this would be a factor.

Did he? I don’t remember him using shaman power in SL. But I haven’t done the quest to rescue him yet.

But Thrall’s loss of shaman power was never due to anything major. He lost conviction in himself after the duel with Garrosh. Doubt and loss of confidence filled him and the elements chose not to respond to someone like that.

All Thrall needed is a motivation boost and the desire to reconnect with them. Saurfang kicking him out of retirement and back into the fire is good, he seems to be getting his fighting spirit back.

His whole guilt was about using the Elements in revenge against Garrosh, someone who he let lead the Horde to almost ruin.
Kendra explains it a lot better than me.

I just meant that those two reasons, I doubt would’ve been any real factor for Thrall. He’s been really detached from the Horde and other Orcs for a short while now, not really caring about worldy affairs.

Yes, but that ended in BfA. Since then he’s joined the Horde Council as the Orc’s representative.

The story also required a half-naked, ripped and chained-up Kael’thas to be exploited in a way they’d never tolerate with women anymore.

I don’t know, maybe the weird fanfic writers have taken control now.

i saw that in his quest in torghast.

he called for the elements to help and they killed all the people holding him

Is there no catch-up for the Torghast storyline? It looks like I am a week behind. I completed the quest to look for clues. Found the burnt totem and that’s it for this week. Seems like I won’t get to rescue him until Tuesday.

Blizzard Entertainment would never show a woman going through that. The most you’ll ever see them do is a woman in cuffs. She won’t even be executed on display in WoW, ever.

imagine if it was a prominent female character with history chained like that to be exploited like kael thas is

lol the game would shut down

and i am a woman

Weird thing there is that the presence of the elements is supposed to be required for anything like that to work - at least according to what happened in MoP.

Garrosh can have his dark shaman torture the elements into silence/abandoning Orgrimmar, thereby nullifying Thrall, but the WoWniverse’s Turbo*Hell Tower doesn’t count for the same purposes? …

Oh well.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Lore goes out the window for a multitude of reasons, always when it is most convenient.

If the Light can answer Anduin then I don’t see why the Elements can’t aid Thrall.

The Light can reach The Shadowlands though.

But what Elementals are there in The Shadowlands?
