How did Thrall not know who she was? Blue eyes among orcs are (seemingly) a phenomenon restricted to Durotan’s lineage, she is named after his grandmother, they have served on the Council as chief representatives for over half a decade, she has called him Go’el as far back as BFA.
Thrall that oblivious now, or was there some utterly pointless conspiracy to keep it hidden?
(This is intended to be light hearted. Better late than never, and good to see it finally out in the open)

the like dev reason, is probably to explain why we never got a scene with them together

I mean it is Thrall/horde development, it happens very very slowly. After 12 years thrall is still dealing with his elemental issues while Anduin has resolved his issue in the same expansion. Same thing for who was leading the trolls after voljin we didn’t know for 2 expansions or who was leading the orcs after Thrall left in legion. Horde development outside of faction conflict is a rarity

thrall and geyarah addressed eachother after sylvanas left the horde to serve what’s his face.
all they did is walk across a bridge, stop, say eachother’s name in greeting, then leave.

Blue eyes are just very rare in orcs. Not only Durotar’s lineage has 'em.
That being said, yea it’s kinda odd he didn’t know considering how “high profile” Geya’rah is as figurehead of the AU Mag’har.
Thrall still has an uncle out there, might be a perfect way to help them bond.

I kinda figured they had all already known and just didn’t focus on it.
It is strange that he never considered that she is from the Frostwolf clan, or her parents names, or how she came to lead the Maghar, or any of that - Eitrigg was there with us when we get her, I believe. He should have surmised some relationship, if she ever mentions her parents during the quest.
Blizzard made a strange choice by having Thrall be the only one who doesn’t know. Maybe if no one knew except Draka, and she revealed Thrall had a sister while they were together in the Shadowlands - like ObiWans ghost told Luke he had a sister.
But having Thrall be ignorant and oblivious to something that seemed obvious with a tiny bit of consideration… I guess Blizzard went that route to give Thrall a chance to show emotion. Or something.
He kinda forgot about the Mag’har and Geya’rahs Forces.
They certainly haven’t forgotten about him.
Remember where Thrall was, what state he would have been in. He had to be brought back by Saurfang. He was trying to stay out of things. He wasn’t even aware of what was actually going on before Saurfang told him. I would expect some of that mentality stuck. Add in him trying to recover from his SL experiences. It is likely he kept a lot to himself and avoided interacting with many others beyond just his responsibilities.
Even still, it might seems a little odd to not pick up on something. But not really that odd. When normal people get wrapped up in our own headspace we can miss a TON of very obvious things.
At the end of the day, that is how I explain it. He limited his interaction with those outside his immediate group and spent a lot of time just in his own head. Putting those together and it is believable he would not have picked up on it. And if she felt he wasn’t being welcoming or interested I can see her choosing to not mention it, and asking other to not mention it as well.

People also forget that, apparently, the Mag’har moved to Hammerfall after the fourth war. So they might’ve not even been in org that often at the same time in the years since.
But yeah, practically speaking, they didn’t want to have a character moment off-screen and horde get no focus.
That’s kinda what I was leaning toward, but even in the Heartlands novella it seemed like Thrall was more than passingly familiar with Geya’rah (enough to feel some kind of way about needing to visit with/speak to her in Arathi).
Well, she’s hot headed, that can leave an impression even if the interactions aren’t numerous.
That was resolved in shadowlands already. People keep forgetting that.
We have a teaser cinematic and a novella now that both say otherwise.

I wonder what ever happened to him.
What was the point of not telling him?
Because Geya’rah doesn’t treat it like it was a secret but Aggra kept it from him for some reason.
And he seems pretty thrilled to have a psuedo sister after he gets over the brief and pointless deception of it all so why be cagey with the big fella?

I’m guessing it was something they looked at and realized they had glossed over, but wanted to have the scene happen somewhere because it should have been a big deal. I’ll take Geya’rah getting some overdue development even if it comes off a little wonky. She seems to be the closest thing I’m going to get to a Grom analog, so I’m for it.

It really does feel like Blizzard awkwardly realizing that they haven’t written the horde at all since the end of BFA outside of Thrall meeting his dead mom and Baine having a gamer moment in Oh’nara and having to do scenes that should have happened in BFA ideally or Shadowlands at the latest.
Remember how we were told that Shadowlands people are an amalgam of everytimeline’s life? Imagine if Thrall’s Mom(blanking on her name legitimately lol) had told Thrall that she had had a daughter in another life and can somehow sense her presense having come into contact with Thrall. Setting up some dramatic irony that Thrall is wondering how thats possible and who it could even be, and have it paid off later.
Instead… nah… everyone else knew, it was never a secret… except to thrall… for some reason? And he finds out randomly now, years later after a timeskip plus change.
