Any high level WW players want to chime in on the upcoming buffs? Does this make us a top tier melee dps spec? Currently I feel like we are so behind many other melee classes in the game… Buffs listed below
- Windwalker
- Conduit of the Celestials: Strength of the Black Ox damage increased by 100%.
- Conduit of the Celestials: Flight of the Red Crane damage increased by 100%.
- Conduit of the Celestials: Courage of the White Tiger damage increased by 35%.
- Fists of Fury damage increased by 20%.
- Blackout Kick damage increased by 8%.
- Flurry of Xuen damage increased by 40%.
- Courageous Impulse now increases the damage of your next Blackout Kick by 200% (was 125%).
- Shadowboxing Treads now increases the damage of Blackout Kick by 20% (was 10%) and causes additional Blackout Kicks at 80% effectiveness (was 70%).
- Developers’ notes: We’re looking to increase Windwalker’s overall performance in AoE and single target through targeted adjustments to a few baseline spells, as well as to push some underrepresented talents for increased build diversity.
The 20% on FoF is big. Does lock in TTP though. Conduit of the Celestials buffs are nice to reduce the gap with Shado-Pan, but afaik Conduit can still channel cancel. Flurry change is cool considering the last 40% was kinda cancelled out by a bug fix they rolled out with it. We probably pick it up for AoE. The rest are ok.
Personally, I’d rather Blizz make WW stronger by reverting nerfs they did to our talent tree, as well as just optimizing and improving the talent trees. And in a way I think they started with SBT because iirc that was one of the talents that got nerfed on like day 2 or 3 of the DF pre-patch.
Feels like Blizz is taking baby steps with these changes.

It’s something, and that’s better than nothing so I’ll take it. Agree with you on all the rest however.

its feel nice and bad at the same time.
See a buff is always welcome. But i have to complain sorry, buffing a primary source of dmg by 20% only means monk are soooo underperfoming that requires that kind of buff at this point of the season.
I think this will improve a lot the single target dmg and “cleave” on raid scenarios but i dont believe it will help that much on M+, which im fine with to only shine in one aspect of pve

will be really nice if they made the base cast speed of FoF 3 secs insted of 4, and increasse the hits also to at minnimum 10 hits instead of 5.

wow it must have really been underperforming then

The buffs are decent but are ST and raid focused. It doesn’t seem to offer much for m+. It could make some different raid builds viable though. My raid crew has a lot of strong burst AoE classes. That doesn’t leave much for me or other WWs in similar positions.
Doesn’t really change the way the class is played, but the magnitude of the changes show how needed it was (and probably still will be). A good start. Would have liked a change that made us more appealing to take to raids since I think most other melee DPS classes are still going to hit harder, and most with more utility.

I really want that yulon cutting the channel in half thing baked in somewhere in the ww tree. It feels too good

Can’t agree more.
The feeling during the Yu-Lon window feels amazing and it’s quite interesting to play around.
On the other hand the Unity Within not working at the end of the channel of CotC or sometimes when we press the ability a second time feels horrible
It honestly should have been what Ordered Elements is, or at least a choice node with current Ordered Elements.
WW buffs let me get zekvir and now I’ll never touch the spec again
