Thoughts on Undermine

I know it’s only been 1 day but so far loving the Undermine. It feels refreshing to have a huge city to romp through instead of another regular zone. There is so much life and wonder around the city. Im getting like a 80s La Noir/Blade runner feel to the zone. Love it.

As others pointed out the music is top notch and adds so much to the feeling above.

I am not a huge wow goblin fan but the city and feel is some of the best the team has put out. It’s really giving a different feel on playing the game for me more so than the other zones in WW. Feels almost like a slightly different game in exploring and doing the dailys and car stuff. Time will only tell how it pans out but right now it’s a blast.

Too much going on in too small an area. It’s laggy as heck, too.
And the car thing sucks.

i like the car. i hate the lag. i dislike having SO MANY quest objectives in a tiny area, it’s tough to tell which of three tiny adjacent buildings the one yellow dot you need is actually in (of the five that are visible). on the whole, i’m a fan!

It is another regular zone. It’s just another regular zone with a travel feature built to make you fight the terrain during travel more than playing the game. Typical 2025 Blizzard design.

I’ve never logged out and not wanted to play so fast. Debating whether I want to let my sub expire out and go play something else. At the moment, I’m just not sure I’m going to be motivated to want to be in what feels like an oppressive zone.

But I hope others enjoy it, because I’d like wow to be around for me to come back to.

Has far to much mob density too. You find yourself constantly fighting a dozen mobs constantly since everything has social agro and blizz cant figure out how to make it work vertically

The lag is killing the zone for me. Other than that, I like the zone so far.

Laggy. But I assume it’ll get better as soon as the crush of mains grinding the place thins out.

Confusing to navigate. I hate coming near a destination and discovering I’m on the wrong side of an impassible building block or some other pointless obstacle. If I wanted that experience, I’d drive around Boston.

The car requires a lot of attention, like skyflying except with obstacles every 10 yards and no straight lines. Which exacerbates the navigation issue. Until I internalize the map of the place, I will always have to drive a short distance, pull over, look at the map, and try to plan the next segment of the drive. Again, Boston, but they have decent seafood and Undermine? I’m not convinced Undermine Clam Chowder even counts as food.

Mobs too dense on a crowded map. Hard to get anything done without having to kill your way in and out. And, apparently, non-hostile NPCs I can aggro with AoE or tab targeting.

I’m not thrilled, although some of the most egregious annoyances will probably get better.

I mean it’s certainly not the worst content update they’ve ever done but I have no idea why people gaslight themselves into saying that it’s “great” when it isn’t even above average.

Copium overdose, I guess.

I think its on par with the Siren isles?

Its a world quest zone and I refuse to judge a patch till I see raids and mythic plus.

I dig it. The car is fun, the zone is nice, the music is great. The story doesn’t make my brain want to revolt.

I liked how they killed the Bilgewater guy off in the opening cenimatic and when you meet his sister the first thing you say is “you should lead the cartel!” And then she’s like “oh hell no!” My expectations were totally subverted!

Visually off-putting on every front. Visually over stimulating, too much going on for no reason, DRIVE sucks, the events suck, the area is wildly laggy, and the mobs that are melee but stop and randomly cast are super annoying.

Should have came with mandatory tylenol for the headache it gives

Oh yeah I’m holding judgement on the patch as a whole until I see raids but as far as campaign/world content goes this is about as 3/10 as it gets.

Same things for me. I really gave it a chance too, but after a day, I have zero desire to log in and deal with how annoying the DRIVE system is and how they made it just a hub of doing dailies. Seems like a lot of shadowlands design philosophy is creeping back up.

Skipping this patch. I hope the next one will be better, but patches like these generally indicate the direction they will continue to go in so I doubt the next content drop after this one will be any better. I hope more then anyone they prove me wrong.

If the zone was the size of Waking Shores with the same amount of stuff in it, it would prob have been good. Blizzard already has a big problem with quests and items in caves, houses, underground, it’s been a point of frustration forever. And this zone seems to ONLY have those things.

It is average at best.

Would say its about a 6… but I only judge by if I enjoy the mog. Its not bad but no complete set really looks good. Lotta good pieces for mix and match though.

Yeah, they kinda took a lot of the things that are the most undercooked parts in wow and the most annoying and they clumped them all together. They did this kinda thing in shadowlands too, it was a major pain point in multiple areas, like the maw for example.

Theoretically the DRIVE system should have been good, but they decided to make it like a bumper car because of how the zone is not designed for driving fast at all. Dragon flying speed works because there arent a million cramped polygons we are bumping into in the sky, if there were it would be just as bad.
